ScoutKYup! Comes with the Uno, a breadboard, and all the bits you need for a bunch of fun little projects to get you used to the Arduino. The included manual gives easy to follow instructions on how to perform each project and gives you a good foundation on the basics. You should also be able to use a lot of the pieces in this kit to go along with the Arduino website's existing library of projects and sample code once you feel like expanding.

The vendor has let us know that the Sidekick basic kit is currently expected to arrive at their warehouse late next week. This means that orders that included this add on are going to be shipping from the warehouse after the expected ship date.
We understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. Group members affected can either cancel their full order or remove the Sidekick basic kit from their shipment. You can just buy the same kinda stuff on amazon but will like three times the amount of components. It's all low-grade anyway doesn't matter if you add or subtract ten dollars.

I get that Seeed has a relationship with mass drop, but how does this compare with other starter kits?

My grandfather and I were going to order probably two of these as Christmas gifts. I am worried though because it says the next ship date is December 30... is this the case or is there any way to get this just before Christmas?

The first batch of the order arrived earlier this week. People whose order will be fulfilled by this batch should have received an email with tracking.
We are still in contact with the vendor regarding the second batch. We have a call scheduled first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect this batch in our warehouse.
