Product Description
Part of the popular Seiko 5 series, this dress watch is an excellent introduction to mechanical timepieces. It’s equipped with the company’s caliber 7S26 automatic 21-jewel movement, which offers a sweeping seconds hand that beats at 21,600 bph Read More
Anyone considering this entry level seiko 5 automatic should also compare to orients 3 star automatic for the same price. Love mine as a nice looking daily beater swapped on a leather strap.
Sure you can... just get an "automatic watch wider box" to store it in at night. get a multiple watch box and store all of your automatic watches in it. It will keep them wound up.
I have this movement in the green band version, I only wear it once a week. That said I have 4 automatic watches and store them all in a winding box. I'd suggest buying a winding box if you have enough automatics. Never once thought about manually winding them.
I'd definitely recommend the SNK range. Affordable and reliable!
My advice would be to find a nice leather strap as they go very well with their smaller, thinner dials, especially on those with thinner wrists.
It'll look way more than it's worth.
Here's mine from a few years back of a different model.
SNK801K1. It's exactly the same as this drop, only difference would be the dial and hands. As Seiko 5 are quite common and have a standard sizing, you can find many hands and dials, possibly customizing your whole watch to suit your individual style.
I got this watch about 2 months ago and haven't taken it off since. For the price you won't find a better looking watch. A workhorse of a movement that is also hackable.
CheezitsTakeTheWheelSorry to ask a question as a reply to a REALLY old post, but I'm trying to do some digging into determining whether this watch's lug width is 18 or 19 millimeters - I see conflicting information across Massdrop's past and present listings, as well as in the community.
Oh yeah? Here's what I think:
If these watches were priced at $1,779 marked down from an MSRP $7,999 there would be a hell of a lot fewer people trying to tell the manufacturer how to make watches.
At seventy-nine bucks, everyone's a watch expert.
At $1,779, everyone can't wait to get their hands on one.
Funny how that works.
BTW, I just ordered another Seiko 5 "Sports" watch. Should be here Monday ;- )
7S26 movement is being phased out soon. The reason is that this movement does not have manual winding or hacking (ability to stop the second hand while setting the time). The newer 4R35 and even newer 6R are more complication filled and more accurate. But great deals are to be had with the 7S26, not bad for beginners in the automatic movement world!
mhwolf7S26 movements are troopers. The newer models are sexier with their hacking and hand winding but somewhat less robust to drops and thicker making the whole watch bulkier. Accuracy is pretty good on the 7S26 to begin with and is pretty easy to adjust to plus minus 5 sec/day or so by opening the case and moving the +\- lever.
