Product Description
A dress watch and a powerful tool, the Seiko Neo Classic is equal parts looks and functionality. The polished stainless steel case, leather band, and rose gold accents would suggest that it's aimed at the businessman, but the other features behind the watch make it more more widely applicable Read More

Unless you're a giant, this watch is too big for your wrist. Full stop. I don't get the Guy Fieri watch trend, which thankfully seems to be somewhat dying out.

44 mm might be large but it's not gigantic.

While the photos included above would lead one to believe there are many watches available in this drop, in reality ONLY ONE watch is available. If you like the BLACK (SPC133), you're in luck. UPDATE: looks this time around the drop is for the WHITE version only. Evidently we can't have BOTH at the same time?

Everyone else get's to waste time flipping through shots of watches that aren't actually available because, (evidently) MD was too cheap to pay some one to edit the original drop to reflect the current offering.

flaviov In fairness, it could just be the Cleaning Lady and Security Guard who are running the whole place at this point--not because of the Corona Virus thing, but because everyone else is out looking for new jobs.

I got the rose gold one the last time. I like it fine. But here are some things to think about:
- The rose gold hands blend into the face and each other such that you need to take a glance and a half to see the time. The chronometer hand is so thin that I can barely see it.
- There's so much stuff on the dial that some hands block other hands. For instance, "What's the day of the week? Probably Friday, since the hour hand is in front of the place between Thursday and Saturday, and I can't see the day-of-the-week hand anywhere else. Yeah, there it is if I look a the watch face obliquely. Friday it is!" Or, "How many minutes has the timer gone? Dunno, let's wait 10 minutes until the minute hand rotates out of the way so we can see where the chronograph minutes hand is. Let's use another timer so we'll have a number to subtract from whatever the result turns out to be."
- The seconds at 9 are so small that I need a magnifier to set them.
- The chonograph seconds are at 6 and are so small that you need a magnifier to see them, so I don't time anything that will take more than a minute.
- The whole perpetual thing is kind of silly, since the date of the month is in microtype opposite the back end of the chronograph hand. Really tiny. I have to squint.
- The tachymeter ... did I mention tiny type? This is half-sized tiny. And you have to align it with the hard-to-see chronograph hand.
- Because of all the stuff going on on this watch, it's easy to screw something up when trying to set something. The best thing is to get it set up right and not change anything or use any features until the battery runs out. None of the features are that practical to use anyway as implemented.
Edit: I'm getting endorsemenhts for this post, so I thought I'd edit it to say that I never wear this watch anymore. The illegibility and difficulty of setting it, plus that it's quartz, has caused it to lose its appeal to me.

CloacaWhat are the months there for? It doesn’t appear to have any way to actually indicate the current month.

Had to buy the spc 131 white dial watch; where I live it's hard to get it for under $220 usd. sometimes much more, some authorised retailers still selling for over $350 usd. Biggest problem was while investigating this perpetual date watch which I do like a lot, I also came across a Seiko SNP149 p2 Premier perpetual date kinetic watch at a price I thought was good around 60% discount off retail; very much a Drop price!!! Had to buy; and it arrived within 24 hours!! Funny these are the first Seiko watches I have bought in 26 years!! I hope they are as good as some community members say (Rayf etc.).Anyway will drop wrist shots soon.

I think that's a good idea; I see you have commented on "Chinese made" earlier!! Maybe it's beer o'clock time. Funny though I was just checking on a the origin of two of my watches last week; and one quite expensive Seiko Perpetual kinetic watch has stamps assembled in China!!(funny though no such stamp on this Neo classic watch) I would have thought for over $750 rrp. usd. you might have got one of the "Made in Japan" which seem to attract a heavier price; almost as if they are trying to cash in on the Swiss Made title. But however you look at this point of origin situation I can wholeheartedly agree that made/assembled in china does not negatively reflect the final quality of the piece; the other watch I had recently purchased was a Bulova Marine Star chrono, who I find are now owned by Citizen, stating they have manufacture and assembly plants in China, Japan, and Switzerland and will produce their watches at whichever plant can handle the order! I do suspect that most of their auto's are Swiss, the "high frequency" Japan and the runof the mill "quartz" in China: probably that may reflect labour costs per unit, although for the >$160 usd I paid for the Bulova chrono with the internal(although very weak lume) bezel watch I am very impressed with the finish. The rest of the lume is as good as most Seiko's. The two Earnshaw's although "Swiss Made" were both assembled in China a are Wulf watches and the finish is extremely good especially if bought right.

JAone Agree with you on the premium paid for Japanese made (so-called J-versions) especially for sub $500 watches. Dumb—not worth it. We pay a premium for Japanese Domestic Market watches because they’re limited in availability, not because they are inherently better watches.

This is about as large as I go on my 7.25" wrist. Love the perpetual calendar that is correct month after month. It's on Jomashop for same price.

Can't add a review for some reason, so I'll just post my impressions here.
  • Function: Initial setup is probably around 30 minutes, half of that is reading the manual, the other is clicking all the buttons. It's by no means simple, but it's manageable. Past that, the watch does what the dial shows, although I can't see myself using the tachymeter at any point in my lifetime.
  • Looks and size: The white and gold model is pretty pleasant. You can easily tell it's neither real gold nor a luxury watch, but the dial is very detailed. The size is... Big. Not pimp-size, but after wearing it for three weeks and going back to a 40.5mm watch, the latter looks like a kids toy.
  • Strap: It suppled down pretty nicely after a week or two, but out of the box I'd seen roadkill less stiff than this. I've wrapped it around an oval object (a fat old portable amp) overnight for a week and through that combined with daily wear, the strap turned out to be surprisingly cooperative.
Three nitpicks I've got with this piece is that:
  1. The red half-moon day hand isn't dead centre on the number (not evident in the picture), but rather a little bit forward on my piece. The chronograph does not exhibit this issue, so my assumption is that they screwed up the printing. Unlike the day hand, this cannot be adjusted, so it's a final thing.
  2. The buttons look cheap, both in design and in finish, although that's naturally a subjective thing.
  3. The glass is not sapphire (in fact, it's not even glass).
Still, overall, it's a nice everyday functional watch if you're okay with the size, and luxury watches are neither your nor your wallet's thing.

For me there are two fundamentals in a watch.
  1. be able to tell the time on it
  2. not be ugly
I've never seen a watch that so completely fails on both counts.

ElemGot it, so just cant tell time on analog watches if there are no "hour numbers" on them. Hmmmm, stick with a digital then :)

After I look around, I found this to be an excellent deal. So far, price in this style is the best, bars non (Amazon Jomashop etc) Quartz is good, old school solid goods, I had a very old Longines that is quartz and quartz 500m divers. Solid dress watch. This thing would be so expensive if is automatic (like a patek philippe will cost more than a avg. house), and I do love this do-it-all busy as dress watch, especially Seiko thoughtfully put a alarm in it.
Pros: This is not NUMBER but simple indicator edition compare to other 2 different style (which I hate, the hideous numeral indicator.....) Price: Massdrop did it right this time. Function: I had to learn leap year and other different setting by watching videos but this is well worth it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbV5gsVo7Yw
Cons: I can't come up with a con, this is perpetual calendar QUARTZ watch, there ain't many option in this price range. Pair up with stainless steel watch bracelet to fit occasion. last thing I want to point out is the battery life, I don't know how long it will last.
Thanks for reading.
