Made of silicone gel, this set of 104 keycaps offers a completely different typing experience—one you won’t get from traditional ABS and PBT plastic. For one thing, they’re slightly squishy to the touch Read More
Appreciate that. I don't have (and actually don't like) Razer keyboards, but I do recognize that they're better than roughly 100% of the membrane keyboards I could be using, and even some of the shittier Mech boards with weird off-brand switches like Zorro. I wouldn't recommend Razer but I won't bash someone for using it.
They're not the best, and they're not for me, but they're nowhere near "trash."
Hey everyone, got my hands on these recently and they are pretty interesting. One of our coworkers has been using it the past few days and is enjoying the experience. One nitpick, the full silica gel construction means the keycap can be twisted at the stem, though you can just twist it back.
Funny seeing you here, friend :^) seriously though, what was your experience? Thoughts while typing, thoughts for gaming? Definitely interested but not sure if I want to bite the bullet.
Standard rubber dome keyboards are mushy and dumb. Discover Mechanical keyboards and everything's amazing. ABS, PBT, backlighting, doubleshot, man O man, what a world! Now silicon caps, woah! Wait, now board is mushy again. Snake has eaten its tail. Good times.
captainalphabetI wouldn't say that it's an identical sensation though. It feels more like Topre switches sometimes imo (depending on the mechanical switch)
I live in the UK and the drop says estimated delivery will be in MAY. I'm not being funny but may thats 3 whole months. Is it possible to get faster delivery? Cause I am interested in the product.
I had that happen, Ordered a keyboard (the magic force 68), ordered in January, said may shipping, but by the time it shipped I had both forgotten about it, and moved houses, though I had sent an email to massdrop about the change of address way before hand. they didnt ship me mine, and it took another 3 weeks to get it shipped and another week to ship.
It does take massdrop awhile to ship, but as long as its a non-vital thing, ill order from massdrop. If its something I need now, ill order elsewhere.
I like the idea of translucent keycaps for my RGB keyboard, but I doubt I'd want transparent ones because I don't enjoy seeing the crosses and circles on their undersides.
VarholiaglimpYes, by "translucent white or clear" I totally had in mind like a natural/frosted, translucent "clear" rather than actually transparent :) I also prefer the LEDs to be diffused a bit
Not that it would be wise to do this, but because they are silicone is there any possibility that these could be dishwasher safe? (I'll have started a revolution if anyone sees keycaps that use this in their marketing materials)
Just got my set today and I'm so torn. The feeling is fantastic. They're super squishy and fun to type on. They also totally act as sound dampeners for my blue switches. As far as the negatives go... I'm bummed that the light pink color in the green heavy set aren't translucent. Seems really strange as every other color in the set is translucent and it really throws the whole look off, especially on a backlit board. Also, the "J" key doesn't have a bump on it. The "F" key and "5" keys do, but not the "J" which seems really atypical to me. Lastly, the bottoms of a lot of the caps have leftover silicone bits hanging off that needed to be trimmed with an exacto knife to look decent.
Anyway, it's definitely a fun and unique set to my collection! If a solid color set (especially white) is ever offered, count me in!
No, I used it for several weeks before swapping caps (I have too many in my rotation lol!) and didn't have a single key stick! Maybe it depends on the board/switches? The space bar initially stuck due to the LED placement of my Ducky, but a sharp razer blade and a few cuts to the underside of the cap solved it very easily.
