Lighter and stronger than conventional steel mugs, Snow Peak’s double-wall stacking mugs are ideal for ultralight backpacking yet durable enough for everyday use. The uncoated titanium is tasteless, odorless, nontoxic, naturally hypoallergenic, and resistant to corrosion Read More
<--- Owner of an h450, m200, and m150. Also own a single-wall 450 mug. I think that's it. There may be more sitting around the house. The h450 is my daily office coffee cup. I'd say it insulates about the same as a ceramic mug. But, if you add the Snow Peak lid, it insulates much better. In other words, the heat loss is convective, not conductive.
The m200 is my whiskey glass both at home and on trail and the m150 is a perfect espresso cup. $38 is a solid deal for the h450.
if they had a lid for the h200 i would pick up one as a cortado/cappucino to go cup. I have the 450 and love everything but the fact it doesn't fit in a cupholder.
FYI even if the titanium doesn't impart flavor mine eventually ended up brown from coffee stains on the inside and that was affecting flavor. used a mr clean magic eraser (melamine foam) and it's back to new.
These do keep hot beverages hotter longer than a ceramic mug, but as you also noted, don't expect hours from it as these are not vacuum insulated like Yeti etc., but just double walled. The outside does get warm to touch (not hot, just warm), meaning they do lose heat. Still most of the heat is lost through the open top, so if you can find a lid, it easily doubles the time.
