Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Let's just say I'd be all over this drop if I didn't have it, already.
Answer this: what if I want to use something like an AKG Q701, or a Sony XB500? Those take a lot of current to drive properly. Can this handle a load like that?
Now, to the topic, at hand. You are criticizing a device that is designed to be PORTABLE with high quality audio for PORTABLE headphones. Using something like planars or open AKGs would be obselete, no? Your only argument is lack of power. Obviously you are looking at this device for all the wrong reasons.
Want more power? Use the line out and get a portable amp. On the go, however, I pass on the amp because, let's be honest, I'm not going to be commuting with AKG 7XXs or HE-400is on my head.
Hope that was civil enough for you. Now be a gentlemen and shake my hand.... and agree to disagree until you try the device for yourself.
Did anyone actually buy xb500's? why are they even in the same sentence as Q701's. Your XB500's wont care if you have your little sisters toy glockenspiel driving them for all the SQ you are getting out of them.
If you have enough enough room to take your Q701's and the necessary case cause as if you just throw them in a bag at the end of the day, then im sure you can afford the space to have your IPOD gen 3 stacked to and IBASSO or whatever your flavour is.
This is obviously aimed to be light and portable and i think it hits the mark quite well. it even comes with line out for when you want to drive something different. I would gladly use this with some iems for a light portable ring with decent storage capacity and SQ.
I've heard a bunch of the sony gear and they may not all have wolfson dacs but sony's own kit is actually really good.
on another note, only old iphone can have a lineout adroids don't support it.
Q701 is 105dB/V at 62 Ohms and the Sony will drive it to ~100dB
XB500 is 104dB/mW at 40 Ohms and the Sony will drive it to ~113dB
What volumes do you listen at for prolonged periods of time where this isn't good enough? Is it a desktop-grade amp with a clean, desktop-grade power supply? No. Is the output impedance amazing? Is it zero-feedback? Is it powered by an output transformerless tube amp? Is it magic? No.
Is it a half decent, extremely light and portable player for 1/3rd the price of the "audiophile" competetition, with a good UI, easy drag-and-drop file structure and amazing battery life? Yes.
Is it for you? Obviously not because you can't shut up about how awful you think it is, even though I'm almost positive you've never listened to or used it before.
