demollatorI've successfully opened a couple of door locks with the rake in a pinch, it is not ideal, but I'd rather have this than a coke can, 2 bobby pins and an avocado.
demollatorIt really comes down to the skill of the user. I've got one of these I got from another site for $15 and if you know what you're doing then you can open most locks. Paddocks, door locks, dimple locks, car locks, disc locks, tibby locks, too many to mention. You're best making your own picks and wrenches anyway, especially for shielded or gated locks, definitely for things like safes.
demollatorI am aware of the differences, and the flaws of European locks. We mainly use them here, since one barrel lock in not much different from the next, less than a minute to open and no scratches.
You're talking from an amateur point of view, who happens to be European. You should be able to open both.
