infinThere are some good user reviews at Amazon. But obviously, we're not talking JA Henckels here. I've been looking for a starter set as a gift and these might be an option.

FranknsActually, I got some for my own use, and my mother, the cook of the family, ended up getting some to replace her Henckels set after using mine - she actually prefers the thinner blade stock (as do I.) If you want a starter set, your options should probably be Victorinox, this, or a couple of Tojiro DPs from Amazon.

salehonasiThanks ... Been thinking that the price is right on these and I know so many people who like thinner stock blades.

FranknsHenckels? totally different blade here. Have not used German style knives for years since using the thinner, more functional Japanese style. The more accurate statement would be something like: 'we're not talking Shun or Mac here' and even that fails due to the steel they're using here.
