If MD would deduct $15 for an an imaginary pouch, then this would be a good deal.

I love the Manix, it’s a sexy, beast of a knife. However, I feel the translucent blue FRN scales do it a disservice. Use one with G10 scales and you will understand. Semper Fi

BenzoSpyderco's frn handles make them feel cheap imo. I understand it saves weight but I can't get past the "gas station" $1 knife feel of it. Agree about the G10 being a major upgrade. I can't believe spyderco removed the stainless steel liners from the frn knives. I just received a dragonfly 2 and it is soooooo disappointing. I'll try and get a pic of the all plastic handle

Gunnersmate2Ugh.... that’s disheartening. They couldn’t make that much of a weight difference. I have a zome Dragonfly (w/ liners) and love it.

One of my favorite knives - so much to like about it and love the translucent blue cost, value, weight, blade, size, steel - I could make an argument that it is better than a PM2

ThatGuy333Oh finally, I've found someone else who will at least entertain the idea that the the Manix 2< the Paramilitary 2.
I'd been making this case for a while to some friends, but the Manix I have has the CPM M4 blade steel, and the retort was always that that Manix wasn't a fair standard for comparison (even though my main argument was that the handle shape was the feature that made it superior to the PM2's; everything else was about equal).
But now I have a PM2 with a an M4 blade, and I stand by my earlier argument: the Manix is SLIGHTLY better. The leaf-shape blade in combo w/ the pronounced index finger chool allow for a very controlled grip, which in turn permits fine, detailed work better the PM2. Huge difference? Not at all, and I certainly think theres room tk disagree. But the superiority of the PM2 in all ways, forever and ever, amen, is such an article of faith for some folks that it has been impossible for me to even raise the issue for a proper discussion.

HatuletohHaha, the Manix 2 is the only Spyderco I have ever owned that I don't love. It is just too damn wide. It feels horrendously bulky to me. I don't actually own a PM2 (apologies everyone) but I like the native 5 a lot, which is like a smaller Manix, and I love the delica 4.

It’s this exact price on most sites.
TEMPTATION! This is not the kind of knife I could use often (too big), but I want it pretty bad.
There are tons of knife review channels that call this Manix 2 Lightweight their favorite knife. They praise how much blade length you get for the weight, the ergonomics and gimping, the new blade steel BD—1 (not a super Steel, but almost), smooth folding action (flick open!), and one handed lockup system. They get excited and wax on about it for 15-20+ minutes about it, but that short summary basically covers it. I think this price is even pretty good.
I’d buy a Mini version of this, because the Manix 2 simply is too large for me. Usually, I only need a blade about the length of my thumb to open plastic packages and mail, and I only need a larger knife for cutting food, like a pizza at home I will end up just grabbing a bread knife or chef’s knife. I still like the one-handed opening and closing so I can have the object to cut in my other hand, and I think it would be fun to flick this open and closed.
Problem is, if we’re just talking flipping for fun, and I already have a Tigh Tac Two with a button lock. It’s my smoothest fall-shut knife I have, second fastest deploying, and too fat to use for anything other than going Rambo on a deer. This Manix and it’s full-flat grind could actually be a user where the TTT isn’t for me, but I don’t go camping or street vigilante so the knife would just stay at home. A Ganzo would also fill the big-flipper-you-don’-use role easily too, and cost $20 or less.
To be sure, this remains a “hall of fame” knife with quite a reputation. I’m curious, what would or do others use this for? And is there something like a midget version of this knife?

Bd1 is better than aus 8 and 8 Cr 13 Mov in my opinion. I have this exact knife, the steel has held up well to daily use.

CTS-BD1? These spyderco drops aren't good deals from what I've seen.
