kkt45Taiwan Quality is One of the world best.
It is truth!
Also I prefer Made in Europe, USA, Japan
Cuz it feels great
But in reality Taiwan some times makes much better.
I don't wanna agree, But It is truth at all
kkt45That's called ignorance.
Try to find someone who has been unsatisfied with the fit and finish from a Taichung knife. Companies like Benchmade who can barely grind the blade bevels straight could learn a thing or two about quality control from the Taiwanese.
A Chris Reeve designed S30V/Ti knife for $140 is a steal. Such a price point wouldn't be possible without making the knife overseas, and the kind of quality people expect from Spyderco wouldn't have been possible overseas without the Taiwan factories. It's also why Spyderco let them mark the blades with 'Taichung' - they felt such a level of quality is deserving of distinction(like Seki, Japan).
Of course this knife doesn't have the level of fit and finish that a Sebenza does, but it's also less than half the price. And in my opinion, this knife makes a better EDC - cuts better, easier to sharpen(due to lack of thumbstud), and easier to open/close.
The only thing I'd nitpick about this knife is the wire clip. A lot of people love them - personally I would like them to have better retention in pocket.
kkt45I feel sorry for you not giving a Taichung made Spyderco a shot. Their fit and finish are truly on another level compared to the other countries.

guvnorno its called reputation and ive never seen anything of quality come from Taiwan..but then again I avoid them like the plague...should I give 'em another shot? meh...probably not.. nothing but bad experiences all the way around....
kkt45You should separate the reputation of Taiwanese-made knives in general and the reputation of the Taichung knives, perhaps. While the majority of Taiwanese knives are budget knives (Including some very decent ones, in my experience), this is not the case here. The Taichung factory is considered by some to be the best of Spyderco's production factories; if you look at their lineup, the most complex and high end knives are typically assigned to Taichung.
Give it a shot; worst case scenario, there are enough people who do consider it high quality that you can sell it off losing almost nothing, and you can say you told us so.

guvnoryeah i'll admit I have zero experience with these particular Taiwan made knives..but really the reputation I was talking about was the whole stigma associated with "made innTaiwan"....if I were a business owner moving to taiwan would make my ass cheeks draw up...not sure where you're from... maybe its just an American thing?
but from your praise and others i'm linclined to believe they are quality knives but ....its just hard for me to equate "made in Taiwan" to quality...
kkt45Plenty of good and high quality things come from non-american countries.
Even though I support the American made things more than foreign made, quality and price is the only factors I really care about.

Evidently others agree:

Or just look at the huge number of Sage 2 reviews on Youtube and see if anyone complained about quality.
