I hate this. Exact same price as Amazon, and I can get it in 2 days. Defeats he purpose of Massdrop. If the products aren't able to come it at ~20% off the competition, why carry it? The whole "group buy" should make it so wrte paying less than the average bear purchasing just one for themselves.

shard_incFor me, a lot of Amazon products don't ship to my country. Through Massdrop, I can reliably get it shipped to me without really worrying about it being a fake item, or paying for excessive shipping fees, even though it does take a while to get here. Massdrop may not be the best way to get certain items, but I can get others that don't ship to my country in general, due to whatever company policies the item comes from.
TheGreatFlabodersame for some items for me but most of them are Chinese seller origin so kind of defeats point. In defense I get how making it worth their while plus shipping cn to usa then back out will always work out more than direct. Another plus is dealing with taobao via agents is bit of a lottery, but in some cases products are on most the English speaking for global market Chinese vendor sites too so getting direct is gonna be cheaper than MD can manage without taking a loss.
brainwaveExactly brainwave , normal occurrence on MD to over charge then shipping extra. Then wait months.
MD seems to prey on customers that don't google
brainwaveMassdrop isn't a deals site. There's a few employees that make people think they're getting a good deal, and they're pocketing the savings the buyers should be getting.
Just got my light stick. Feels very well constructed, light output is good. The only issue I have is the charging cable, I have no micro usb hub anywhere To charge. Not very practical if you need to charge & have no micro usb available.
wish R/D would’ve updated with usb 3.0 or usb C.
Enigmatik"... & have no micro usb available."
I realize it's been several months since this post, but I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this - but...You're trying to recharge it incorrectly. Flip your cable around the other way. Plug the Micro-USB end into the SunJack, then the USB-A end into any standard USB port or charger. Your Sunjack will recharge just fine. no need to go looking for a Micro-USB port.
NerysBattery is not replaceable. From Amazon seller: "The Lightstick is a sealed unit to keep it waterproof. The batteries are not replaceable. However, with the typical battery life of 500-1000 recharge cycles, even if you use and recharge every other day the battery should last over 4 years. Longer with less frequent use. The battery in the LightStick is a LiPo battery which has a self discharge rate of about 1.5-2% per month. So if it is fully charged it should still hold about 80% of its capacity after a year. This self discharge rate will increase if stored in warm conditions. If used for this purpose, we suggest that you periodically top up and check operation every 6-12 months. This is a relatively low discharge rate compared to products with NiMh and NiCad batteries which discharge 10-30% per month. The LightStick itself is relatively robust and should see no noticeable degradation for several years if kept in a non-corrosive, dark, cool environment."
Can anyone comment on the warmth of the lantern mode? I'm looking for a lantern for camping and van camping. I've noticed that cool white LEDs are unpleasant and unnatural feeling at night for ambiance, and I'd rather have something yellowish for around camp or reading a book at night.
Looks like a great product and I'm glad Massdrop is stocking this kind of thing. That said, this style of ugly and huge logo is really offputting. I don't get why companies so often hamstring their products with, frankly, dumbass ugly logos and Church-Newsletter-level graphic design. Just keep it small and tasteful and these objects would look so much nicer.
It doesn't seem that the cost on the page matches the cost when you join. The page states says -$14 but it only deducts $12 when you join for the mini stick.
ItsAceFTWI reached out to Massdrop. They have corrected the pricing within the specs to show that $12 is deducted when ordering the LightStick Mini. Does still kind of bother me that they once were able to get it for $14 less. You'd think that a company with Massdrop's buying power would want to better negotiate prices on products.
idklelsame here, think I'll jump on the links red404 gave instead. Sometimes the not so great for USA deals work because they are still cheaper for international buyers but lately a lot of what I've been interested in have weirdly high p&p so I've bought elsewhere including amazon US and paid much lower shipping for same thing, amazon auto charge tax and sometimes my MD package wont get stopped but even then it was still much cheaper.
