@ JustCallMeCrash<br /><br />Many times they're killed, and sometimes they're "leg trapped." Leg trapping is one of the cruelest methods of acquiring something from an animal. Generally speaking, badger brushes come from a very, very cruel industry. Whether cruelty toward badgers matters to you... is the question.

dqnielIs that actually true? Because I just can't imagine how PETA isn't all over companies who make badger/boar brushes at all if it's cruel.

KailecThey are. PETA released videos of the Chinese fur industry and targeted shaving brushes. Also, the cruelty aspect had been discussed at length on forums like badgerandblade. Even diehard badger brush users acknowledge the cruelty aspect. It just comes down to whether one cares more about the cruelty or the positives of using a quality badger brush. <br /><br />This is all coming from somebody who uses a boar brush, mind you. Granted, I didn't know the ugly side of it when I bought it. Now, I will consider a good synthetic for my next, or at least try to get a brush that sources its bristles from a more humane method. <br /><br />There is plenty of substantiated info on the Web to make the judgment as to whether it's true, though.
