I received my headphones a while ago. They work and sound great. The day i got my headphones, I realized it was slightly broken. The left ear-piece would not move forward and back. It could go up and down but it wouldn't move any other way. I was not too upset because I wouldn't use that feature that often. Today, I got curios and decided to really look and see why it wouldn't move like the right ear-piece. I opened the part that goes over the top of the head and looked at the left side. There was a piece of the plastic broken off and missing. Massdrop sold me a broken product. I know I'm telling you this a little late but I just found out the problem. I would strongly like a refund because you sold me a broken product. Please get back to me.
These sound good for hip hop and trap and it's pretty clean bass. Low life by future ft. The weeknd usually reveals the low ends in headphones and these played like they should have been. I have yet to see about the clamping but the my head is starting to slightly feel it.
These sound alright, but they crush my head and give me a headache after less than an hour of use.
Is there a way to stretch them without investing in a heatgun?
JollyGreenDragon
You could use a hair dryer lmao or the unethical way to get a heat gun is buy one from the store use it then return it.
They were supposed to arrive today...

A few years ago i purchased a pair of kicker headphones from b&h.i paid around 50 bucks i think they sound great for the money but feel on the cheap side .i still have them.kicker no longer makes them.they are identical to the monoprice 8323.at 20 bucks its a steal in my oppinion.
To every one out there sound is a preference every headphone and speaker sounds great it's a matter of what you're ears think every ear is different if you are a dj and break headphones often these are great for the money thanks massdrop.
these sound like garbage, if you need some budget cans grab the $15 Monoprice 8323 instead, I bought the HD562's a few weeks, worst cans I have ever heard actually.
yoda23233
the 8323 does sound better, but in terms of construction, the HD562 beats the 8323. The 8323 looks like it could fall apart anytime. The 8323 also does not have very good passive isolation. I would not trust them for pro use.
aaand it's still cheaper on Amazon once you factor shipping costs with Massdrop. I did pick up one of these off of Amazon last time. I concur everyone that these have extremely tight clamping factor. Actually, most of Superlux's products have a fairly tight clamp, but this is one of the worst. With that said, these are meant for djing so I see why the clamp has to be tight. But still, you should probably look for another pair if your objective is general music listening. Since the whole band is plastic, you won't really be able to stretch it out either. I've left it stretched almost flat over a week period without any improvement in the clamping factor. If anyone has one of these and managed to stretch them out, please share.
Sonically, these are pretty great for the price. It's definitely not a neutral/critical listening pair, but I've been able to enjoy listening to just about any genre with these. It won't match higher end cans, but for what it is, it's great.
Also, while these are fully plastic, it is definitely some type of durable plastic. It's different than the cheap plastic stuff you might see from off the shelf headphones or low end gaming headsets. As I mentioned above, I've basically stretched the headband almost flat over the box it came with over an extended period and it shows no sign of stress or cracking. The material makes me feel that I could drop these from my head to concrete floor or toss it carelessly in a bag full of stuff without cracking the plastic, which is much more than I could say vs other cheap headphones or even some of my more expensive pairs. It is all plastic so it's not going to look super premium, but it is durable and fairly well built for its intended purpose. It also comes with a set of replacement velor pads (which I felt is cheap and isn't as good as the pleather it comes stock in) and a carrying bag, so for the price, it's definitely a good value.

I don't actually own these headphones, but I have a pair of HD-25's that I love and use literally every day. I'll reiterate what a lot of people have said in that they're not for everyone. They have a really tight fit. With the HD-25's, you get a surprising amount of noise cancellation for them not being over-ear phones. The main reason I love these so much though is for drum monitoring. These are the only non-IEM monitors I will use for drumming. The split headband is what makes this possible. If you're a drummer, you know that any other headphone (no matter the cost) will fall off your head in the middle of a session if it has a single headband. The split headband allows you to wear it kind of like a helmet and it stays securely on your head during intense drumming sessions. Again, I'm not speaking from experience with these but rather the HD-25's which these are a knock off of so YMMV.
My problem is the fact that I get free two day shipping on these at Amazon and pay $29.95 total. That's two dollars less than I would get these for here. This is the first time I've seen you be the more expensive option, Massdrop. And it would be a fantastic deal if not for the ridiculous shipping.
$23.99+$7.75=$31.74 Amazon = $29.95
Wow, so tight and uncomfortable after half an hour of wear, painful after an hour. These are now going to my 10 year old son.
I wish the lowest cost + shipping was cheaper than just buying these with Amazon prime (US).. I can get them $0.75 cheaper and they would be here by Monday. Never the less, it is a deal without having Amazon prime, but since I do have it, this drop is pointless for me :(.

Thank you for posting this, I just cancelled my order.
Great for entry-level audiophiles. Sound is about what you'd expect — definitely a good cut above your typical consumer-grade fare, but not as full as high-end stuff.
As Cancer, funderburker and maybe one or two others have noted, they're physically very tight. Unlike Cancer my head is rather large, so for me it's to the point that they get painful to wear after about ten minutes. I think I'm going to take a heat gun to them and very carefully pull them out slightly.
Has anyone living in Europe received their headphones from the latest drop? Mine hasn't updated for four days and is "stuck" at DeutschePost. Hope that will get these next week but I haven't had much experience with DHL so I can't tell really.
EDIT: Got them today. They really are tight. Clamping force is massive and will probably leave them on some block overnight to "stretch out" the plastic. Another thing - there's no manual on changing the pads. Can somebody help me with this? EDIT#2: Changed the pads. You just need to pull them off and then fit the other pads by snuggling them on. It's a bit tedious but easy.
For sound - can't say that much. Like the sound. The right amount of bass but they don't overcrowd the soundstage. Clear sound on low/mid/high frequencies. Isn't harsh and is quite wide. Definitely a great buy for this price but I've never bought 50+ $ headphones either so I don't know what the "high-end" cans sound like.
Ok thnx.

I think Arthur meant, they'll be arriving at Massdrop on 4/21. And then they'll be shipping to individuals once the headphones are received.

Here is a pretty accurate review I found of the HD562: https://diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/brand-superlux/

I think you're a joke Mazinkaiser. I think you should stop comparing these to HD25's or anywhere near the HD800's. You need accurate headphones for DJ'ing and these are not. You said they're comfortable yet everyone is saying they're extremely tight. HD25's are comfortable, hence why DJ's use them and wear them for hours on end. There is a reason why these are priced at $30 dollars and not more. Please don't justify your reasoning nor fabricate information. Thank you.
Jalaly25
Jajaly25, you are the voice of shameless ignorance and nonsense. If accurate sound were needed for djing, then nobody should be djing with beat mixrs, stanton, numark, gemini, apple earbuds, or sony headphones, but djs like Tiesto who have used anything for djing would disagree with you. The purpose of a DJ headphone is to allow the dj to cue tracks and beatmix. Popular headphones such as the MDRV700 were far from flat or accurate and were tuned with a midbass heavy sound, which worked great in the booth. I find the sound of the hd562 to be great for djing. Some people complain that the HD25 are not comfortable. Try a HD25 and a HD562 before you comment. Nevertheless we djs do not care about headphones being comfortable. It is those that want to use them as normal headphones that do complain of both the HD25 and HD562. Has anyone misrepresented and stated that the HD562 are comfortable? Having said that, the HD25 and HD562 are far more comfortable than Beats Mixrs and Sol Republic HD tracks and few other widely used headphones not worth mentioning. Sure, mixrs and sol republic headphones suck, but some djs use them. You obviously don't know what you are talking about and do not understand what you read. You are the typical consumer who thinks that you get what you pay for. When it comes to headphones, it is all not too clear. Shame on you for your useless comment. Go away troll.
Guys, tame your expectations with these headphones.
They look cheap. They feel cheap. They sound cheap... BUT they ARE cheap. Worth 30$ I guess, but don't be expecting super high end appointments and sound from these 24$ headphones. I read a LOT of reviews, and they are so ridiculously praised for no good reason. They are "ok".
My first Massdrop buy. Couldn't find any info on the color. These will be the blacks, right?

Thanks. Been eyeing some keyboard related drops but shipping usually is crazy expensive. Can't wait to get these and have a listen!
funderburker
No problem. Hope you link em!
Personally I find these headphones to be a little bit uncomfortable. They are rather tight around the head, and I have a rather small head, I can't imagine the clamping factor on someone with a larger head. The plastic is very cheaply made, and while the pads are comfortable and come with a separate pair that are more of a velour texture, the clamping factor makes them a bit taxing to wear.
The sound quality is mediocre but not terrible in my opinion. I need to turn the volume up pretty high to block out any surrounding noise on the bus, at school, or even just walking down the street.
For $40 dollars I would have been very disappointed in these headphones, I would have returned them if I had paid full price. But at the cost of around $25 I think I'll just pass these on to a family member that isn't going to care about how comfortable or how poor they sound.

Cancer
I completely concur with your assessments. Over zealous exaggerated claims on these headphones all the way. They are similar to any generic "skull candy" type headphone you can get for 20-30$ at best buy or walmart. Nothing special here.
Bob493
there has been no overzealous claims here, only people like you who don't get it. Did anyone say that the HD562 = HD25? I think that in your head you thought so and now you are blaming others because you just did not like the headphone. Another fact is that no matter how expensive or "high end" a set of headphones is, you will always find people not liking it because of comfort issues or "sound quality". These can be very personal.
I love these headphones and I have HD25s, Amperiors, Urbanites, and many more headphones. I think they isolate more than my HD25s. Good for Djing.

I own a wide variety of headphones, including hd25s. These particular headphones are overly praised around here with some illegitimate claims probably based out of ignorance. These are little the same garbage quality you get from ANY cheap headphones you can get from Wal-Mart. To claim you are using them for "dj work" is a laughable claim. They have next to no isolation, aren't well made enough to be "durable " and the sound quality is pretty poor. I'm not upset, but the irresponsible "reviews" these have have got to stop...
Bob493
I don't know about your pair of hd562, but mine isolate great and as good or even better than my HD25. Use the pleather pads instead of the velour pads for isolation. Show me a headphone that has split headband with two pads and halfway decent sounding with the same isolation level that you can buy for $32 at Walmart. I honestly think that you are way off in your opinions and have come down to personal attacks from the first post and are even implying that I am a liar. Fact is that everyone who has had realistic expectations of this headphone have been happy with their purchase.
