just wanted to say that I got in on the kickstarter on both of these and use them all the time. leaves a lot of the questioning out about temps and the audible alarms are a really nice touch. would recommend to anyone who isn't really the most attentive cooker. Note: I do wish there was an android option...

Sorry for the confusion. These are before-and-after photos. The idea is, you leave the thermometer in the steak while it's cooking - so you can take it off the heat when the internal temperature is exactly where you want it. We just took one photo before we turned on the stove. In response to Kickstarter backer feedback we made the cable nice and long , so unless you're getting oil splatters 4 feet away, your phone is safe.
