This casserole is "designed in Switzerland" and made "to rigorous standards" in China. After a couple of months being used - for example letting simmer heavenly spaghetti sauce for a full day on the open gas range, or slow cook a lamb leg in the oven - I can confirm it's very well constructed, to indeed very high quality standard. It's fairly heavy (heavier than a similarly sized Le Cruset), and came well protected in a double box. The paint job (ours is blue) is very nice! In our experience, this casserole is very, very close to our Le Creuset quality-wise, but of course costs much, much less - honestly, there is no magic involved; i.e. with the investment in the proper manufacturing capabilities, tooling, trained workers, QC and high quality raw materials, any factory, in any country, can make this type of kitchen casserole, to the same exacting standard as, say, Le Creuset does in France. It's just a matter of deciding to do it, and I think that's exactly what Swiss Diamond did. When we have burned food residue sticking to the inside, we fill the casserole with water and a spoon or two (depending on the amount of residue) of dishwasher power (not capsules!) and let it boil for fifteen minutes. We let it cool and leave it overnight full with its soapy water, and all the residue just washes off fairly easily the day after, leaving the enamel clean and spotless. Only negative I can find: the inside enamel is dark instead of being beige, which makes it harder to see your food properly (especially when it's less than half full), but it's not a deal breaker at this price! Overall, a highly recommended purchase!

Great Roster - Casserole pan I bought the 8.9 size as a gift. She wanted the largest one... just so you know it is quite heavy. The bottom of the pan is a little over a 1/2 inch or 13 mm for our metric friends. So there is some gravity to that large size. Fit and finish excellent, sent double boxed and the pan was well secured in the second box. She was happy; so I was happy.
