Just got the Mover in titanium earlier in the week. The texturing is done perfectly! The titanium feels pretty good weight-wise, a little heft to it. The balance is about where the clip starts, leads to me wanting to choke up a little higher than I normally would. The click mechanism is smooth, and quiter than a standard G2. I was able to use the MontBlanc refills, after sanding down the tail cap to make the overall length the same as a G2 cartridge. My biggest issue is that the clip is too low. The click mechanism sits high out of the pocket and when leaning over to tie shoes, get something off the ground, etc. if this is in your front pocket it will actuate the mechanism and you'll have ink all over your pocket (happened multiple times at this point). Switching the pen to my back pocket doesn't help, when sliding into a booth or similar actions will deploy the pen as well (have pockets with ink stains in the back pocket now to prove it). If you carry this in a pack or a purse or something similar to protect that mechanism, this is great! For those of us who prefer pocketing our pens, the Mover may not be for you.
I wish there was an option for grip texture. I understand it's difficult to do, but as a person with fairly sweaty hands knurled grips are almost a must. Something like the spiral grip on Fisher Bullets would be nice.

There are a few photos where you can see the spiral texture that Tactile Turn Pens are known for. It’s the ultimate texture for a machined pen.
TactileTurn
I honestly mistook it for a brushed finish (low-res screen don't hate me lol) which I think is great. Too drastic a texture gets uncomfortable; definitely buying a bunch of pens from you once I have the money :P
Nice “Writer?”
Important to remember this is a “refill-holder”—what it writes like, and feels like, is completely dependent on the refill you put in it. In other words, a “pen” at half the price, with the same refill, writes the same.
So, unless you’re in love with the holder, you’re looking at a very expensive piece of aluminum ;- )

All we do is make pens with our 4 cnc lathes. We just got a new cnc mill, but that will be dedicated mostly to making custom knives. I take in no "job shop" work.
TactileTurn
Then you better start sell'n some pens!
Update: I received a new click mechanism from Will (Tactile Turn) and now the pen works perfect. Thanks for sorting that issue out. The pen is lovely and appears to be made with great craftmanship, however the click mechanism does not work at all. Either it doesn't retract or it keeps getting stuck like others have already mentionned. So disappointing considering it was no cheap pen at all. So far I cannot use it and the pen rests in my drawer. Whom do we have to contact to get a solution for this issue -Massdrop or Tactile Turn directly?

If you haven't, please send me an email at will@tactileturn.com and I'll gladly get you fixed up.
Received my titanium Mover, and LOVED it for the first few minutes. However, the clicker mechanism is way too finicky and requires too much attention when actuating. I understand it’s supposed to be “robust” and all that jazz, but I had Parkers with ZERO issues for decades that work every single time, whether I’m very mindful or not. While I have the clicker on the Mover get stuck two out of ten times. I expected much better results than this ”new and improved” titanium clicker.

So I contacted Will at Tactile Turn and he sent me a replacement mechanism and it's perfect now. If you're having trouble, it's definitely worth reaching out.

So essentially the Mover is just a heavy G2
I have one of these. It’s well made, but the clicky is completely out of proportion with the rest of the pen (too big)! I don’t use it.
TheRaven
We made them robust so they'd last. I think too many people are used to clickers from Schmidt and Parker.
TheRaven
"... but the clicky is completely out of proportion with the rest of the pen (too big)! "
Actually, some of us like the figitability of a clicky pen. Plenty of folks are pen clickers for the tactile feel. After all, see title of this drop. However, if the clicky mechanism is what folks are having trouble with (as some of the comments seem to indicate) then maybe it isn't as attractive as initially thought. I'm on the fence because of this.
Will's work is nothing less than top-notch, with great customer service to go along with it. Highly recommended.
Hey Everybody - Will Hodges here from Tactile Turn. This is the first time these new Movers & Shakers have been on Massdrop. We've gotten a DMG Mori Sprint 20-5 that's allowed us to make our own all titanium mechanism that will last for generations. If you guys and gals have any questions I'll try to keep an eye on the comments section here or you can email me directly at will@tactileturn.com.

Wow those new photos look great! Sorry to anyone wanting more variety - I'm in the middle of making the Gist fountain pens so I'm pretty much down to brass and bronze for a little while.

Are you still working on the bolt action pens?
TactileTurn
Hi,
Is there any of the movers leftover available to purchase?
Thanks,
Shane
I have a titanium version of the Mover and really like this pen. I use it everyday as an alternative to my fountain pens. However, like several other people pointed out, there seems to be some QC issue with the click mechanism. I received a sticking clicker the first time. And Will quickly sent me a replacement part. The click mechanism looks quite delicate from the video Will posted before. I hope the replacement can last a little longer. With the excellent customer service, there is nothing to worry about though.
How to use a click mechanism:
The Shaker is without a doubt my favorite pen in my collection. The overall balanced weight, look, feel, and finish are worth every cent. Will at Tactile Turn is a top notch guy and runs a tight ship. He will get back to you right away with any problems and he backs his products. If you are on the fence, I highly suggest you hop off and make this purchase, you won't regret it.
Ok, I emailed Will at Tactile Turn about the problem with the click mechanism and he got back to me straight away. He's sending me a new mechanism. Apparently you just unscrew the old one and the new one screws straight in. Problem solved. I must say that Will is a top bloke. Excellent customer service.
I received my Tactile Turn brass Shaker a couple of weeks ago and for the most part I'm very happy with it. The brass body is gorgeous. The machining is of the highest quality, the grip section is really comfortable and you can't even see the join where the pen unscrews. The clip is fantastic, tight enough to hold it in a shirt pocket but not overly tight so you can't use it. The pen is a good weight too, I like heavier pens. This pen is now my go-to, everyday pen and I've had lots of positive comments from my colleagues when I've grudgingly let them use it! Overall I would highly recommend Tactile Turn pens and will definitely buy another. However the click mechanism has started playing up on mine and now it either won't extend or won't retract. I've emailed Will at Tactile Turn to see if we can remedy my pen's little problem. I'll let you guys know how I get on.
Catch you later.

Last question - I'm buying a Mover for a leftie. Could anyone who has experience with this tell me if they know of any good refills for lefties, or if I should just stick with the Pilot G2.
Load 4 more comments
Interesting. The Pilot G2 refills had always been quick drying for me and the paper I use. Are you using the fine 0.38mm? Broader and thicker points might dry slower for obvious reasons. Perhaps try the Pentel Energel that fadon suggested. Off the top of my head for quick drying refills, the Uniball Jetstream ballpoints are also excellent. Unfortunately, they don't fit well with these pens.
I am a lefty and am using the Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 M. I never had any smearing problems and write for hours each day
Could someone summarize the difference between the mover and shaker? I don't want to buy the wrong one, and a quick explanation that doesn't involve numbers would be nice. It seems like they are virtually the same, but I know absolutely nothing about pens, I'd be grateful for a more educated opinion.

Thanks! Do they feel different in terms of weighting or is it imperceptible?

Mover: Titanium - 1.48oz Bronze - 2.17oz Copper - 2.51oz Brass - 2.39oz Aluminum - 1.12oz
Shaker: Titanium - 1.44oz Bronze - 2.08oz Copper - 2.39oz Brass - 2.26oz Aluminum - 1.10oz
It's a pretty small difference, and with the length change it's going to feel basically as balanced.
How much do the pens made in the other materials weigh?
rsx19
This is from TactileTurn's reply in page 6:
Sure and I'll include weights for Movers as well for anyone interested:
Mover: Titanium - 1.48oz Bronze - 2.17oz Copper - 2.51oz Brass - 2.39oz Aluminum - 1.12oz
Shaker: Titanium - 1.44oz Bronze - 2.08oz Copper - 2.39oz Brass - 2.26oz Aluminum - 1.10oz
I hope we can get another drop for this, the titanium seems like a needless purchase I must make!
Are we going to drop this again?
Will, unsure if you're still checking-in on the discussion. Just received my titanium Mover and believe it's the finest premium pen I've owned (current count 40+ including the original EIMIM and the Y) - The weight, balance and diameter are perfect compliments to the way I write/hold my pen and comfortable for extended writing sessions.
Now, I need your advice... the click mechanism lives up the the reviews of being unlike any other , but it frequently "sticks" when retracting the ink cartridge. I've taken the pen apart (added a drop of WD40 to make un/screwing easier) tried replacing the G2 with a Juice and the "sticking" continues. (I didn't attempt to remove the spring or the click mechanism). Also, not sure if this helps, the G2 shakes when writing - doesn't fit as snuggly as expected when retracted - the Juices hakes to a lesser extent. Any thoughts on whether this is normal or other fixes I can attempt.
This hasn't stopped me from using the TT Ti to write 35+ pages during the last 48 hours.
Thanks much!
MusicMan
That certainly isn't normal. Send me an email at will@tactileturn.com with your address and I'll get you a new mechanism.

Any idea if color versions will again be available here? I'm jonesing for the Olive one.
mcmc
They won't as I'm running really low on most of the anodized pens and I don't plan to make any more anodized pens because there have been too many issues with anodizing despite the anodizer I go with. I've tried several and they all do okay to start, but I've lost thousands of good pens to bad fixtures (their fixtures wear out) and just general bad practices. Once anodized they can't be stripped and re anodized to good effect. These are hard parts to anodize for several reasons, the biggest is it is hard to keep colors consistent enough and with the way the parts mate together - seamlessly - makes any inconsistency extremely apparent. Doing hard anodizing in house is probably not going to happen because my landlord won't allow it, so my goal for the future of Tactile Turn is to be able to do more materials and in time be able to bring prices down.
Just checking back in to join the chorus of positive reviews of Tactile Turn's customer service. Will completely remedied the problem and these really are beautiful pens with a balance and heft that I find perfect. Really glad I got them!
