I just received a set of Tai-Hao PBT doubleshot keycaps with the antibacterial coating. Whereas I like the feel of the PBT keycaps that I have purchased from various other manufacturers, I definitely do not like the feel of the Tai-Hao keycaps. I am assuming that the difference may be due to the antibacterial coating. The caps look okay, but the feel of the caps is so strange that I have requested permission to return them -- this is something I do very rarely.
I hope that Tai-Hao will stop using an antibacterial coating. The feel of uncoated PBT is great, and ordinary handwashing has proved to be the most effective way to prevent spreading microbial disease. Putting an antibacterial coating on keycaps is completely unnecessary; furthermore, it seems to have a negative effect on the feel of the caps.
