If this were reshaped into a double DIN form factor and made to run off of 12V, this would make a pretty great audiophile car audio head unit. There's not really much of a market for audiophile car audio stuff, but then again, I'm not sure there's a market for this particular device as-is either (how many audiophiles only listen to CD's and FM radio in 2017?). I'll stick to vinyl and FLAC for audiophile at home.
flyinglotus1983This can handle both vinyl and hi-res flac (in addition to the CD/FM you reference) assuming you have a phono pre-amp already. The DAC section is similar in architecture to their 501/301 DAC line . I also see this more as a second system or budget all in one setup niche. The only real "fail" I see here is the lack of a fixed/variable line outs. If someone wanted a small form factor receiver this isn't a bad deal. If small form factor isn't a requirement this becomes less of a value. Don't knock the product just because you aren't the target audience.

ElectronicVicesThe product description does not mention flac, rather PCM, MP3, and WMA. Please qualify.

MF_SuspectHe wasn't referring to FLACs on a CD, but via USB or TOSLINK. Putting FLACs on a CD - particularly high res FLACs - isn't particularly efficient, and anyway burning CDs with any kind of compressed audio files on them isn't terribly common anymore, so I'm not sure why you'd assume that that's what he was talking about.
