This is a good player for the money. Vinyl is fun and fun to shop for in vintage stores. I've found some lps that are worth big bucks. Found them cheap and looked them up later. Always buy Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon. The Beatles and the Monkeys. Can't go wrong and you cant buy love.

ElsidI agree with you about the fun and cool and how ORIGINAL vinyl is..... ....but my take on vinyl is that the artifact of surface defect sounds on your vinyl, or on the pointy bit being dragged across the surface of the vinyl, matters enough that having a very good,(and I'm not saying 5 bajillion dollars worth here), turntable can make all the difference in the world about whether that vinyl purchase remains a fun thing or becomes torturous. I also agree that this is a decent enough TT... and worth it if you are willing to upgrade components, like the cartridge and needle. But sometimes, spending a bit more up front makes for savings later on.
I like Teac products. They made some of the finest audio equipment around, back in the 80's. The open-reel tape decks remain among the nicest around. I have one that I picked up on the 'Bay and refurbished. It‘s awesome.
I think this drop is about having a kicky little vinyl spinner for random ,"I'm clattering around in the kitchen cooking dinner for my sweetheart" listens. Not for serious, “I'm laying back in the dark with my Stax cans on" listening where you'll hear all the imperfections.

TiffanyPoodleslideI agree. Listening with phones can be aannoying if you don't have a good set-up. I love reel to reel. My Dad had a reel to reel, 8 track quad, quad headphones, and a huge console. Speakers around the whole circumference of the rec. room. He played bass and we had a great time. I came home from school one afternoon and my Dad said "Sid, come sit in my recliner and listen to this" , put his quad headphones on my head, and played Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon. I was in awe!

ElsidGood on you! I still have my quad Dark Side album, however no table with which to play it. The SACD sounds phenomenal though! I'm glad your Dad is introducing you to how much better music can sound instead of ripped MP3.
