I don't think this DAC will allow output to both the RCA and XLR connections simultaneously. Can anyone who ones one confirm this?

KJ741NThe review in the following link says that you can select between one, the other, or have both analogue outputs send out singnals. It also says that the menu allows you to switch which pin on the XLR is designated as ‘hot’ https://www.audiostream.com/content/teac-ud-501-dual-monarual-pcmdsd-usb-digital-analog-converter

catboyoblueInteresting.. according to the user manual, you can select simultaneous output to both the headphones and line, but not to both line outs (both RCA and XLR). I think the author of that article may have misinterpreted this feature.

XannenOK thanks for confirming that. Kind of cripples the versatility of the DAC. That's one of the things they fixed with the UD-301.

KJ741Nit hasn't really impacted me too much.. it takes a few button presses to change it. if you use both outputs constantly I guess it may get annoying.

XannenYeah I like to have them both on. I got used to that when I used an interface instead of a dedicated audio DAC. In fact, the ultimate would be a unit like the UD-501 with separate volume controls built in for the XLR and RCA out. This is how interfaces work and it's really great to have once you try it. But alas, no one seems to make a nice hi-fi DAC like that.

KJ741NIt might be inconvenient but TEAC made it this way purposely for sonic purity.
