Some FAQs
Q: Is the cable detachable?
A: No
Q: Is the backlight RGB?
A: No, it's "rainbow light", each row with a different static color.
Q: Is this price reasonable?
A: IMHO, no. You can get the same board on Amazon for $65 w/ free prime shipping and get it in 2 days, vs. waiting a month or more for this thing to ship. I am not linking to it, but you can easily find it on Amazon as "team wolf CIY keyboard", with choice of red / blue / brown switches. In fact, it's imported by several companies and may be listed under their own name.
AlvyoliAntonyFarag is correct: modifying most MKB to have detachable cable should not be a difficult mod. A MiniUSB (or even MicroUSB) port breakout board is cheap ($1.50 on Adafruit, and that's probably expensive https://www.adafruit.com/products/1833) and wires... everybody should have little spools of wires for projects. :) As for how to secure this to the case, there's always Sugru and/or hot glue gun.
kschangChiming in on this, I ordered this during the last drop expecting the green/blue leds pictured. I'm really unhappy with the actual rainbow colors and wish Massdrop had been clearer. I don't understand why they haven't updated the pictures to something more accurate, especially since it's only the TKL being dropped this time.
nixi@nixi are the backlight colours shown here not the actual colours we'll be getting? That would be quite disappointing I imagine :( are there any photos of the actual keyboard to expect?
kiralovellxI don't see it. I don't think TW makes a RGB TKL.
I'm checking TeamWolf's Chinese website. I'm coming up blank.
I see the Zhuque TKL, the Zhuque 104, Void Storm 104, but the RGB version is "Void Ray CIY"
http://en.teamwolf.cc/Prod/ProductView/69
HOWEVER, it's messy in that there's also a NON-Swappable Void Ray II that's NOT RGB and not even Mechanical.
Beware, beware.
The only TKL in their inventory is the Zhuque, and it only comes in "mixed backlight" edition.
kschangI was able to snip the cable and install the USB breakout board kschang linked to without any trouble. I secured the board to the bottom of the case with epoxy putty (aquamend). Here's how you open up the case: https://imgur.com/a/JDn4C
nixiI'm confused, are the LEDs rainbow coloured like in nixi's picture, or blue, green and white like in the description? Are there two versions or something? Either way, I like the LEDs, but I like the blue, green and white just a bit more.
bubtheskrubI checked Team Wolf's Chinese website. The only model listed is the blue/yellow/white backlight version. Not sure when the yellow/white/purple/red version was made.
for people who want to see for themselves... teamwolf.cc is their website. It supposedly offers English website, but translation is sloppy and incomplete, with more than half of the stuff still in Chinese.
