It’s nice to have an all-inclusive studio with everything you need, but it can be even better with one integrated and portable device that still does it all. Equipped with eight synthesizer engines, a 4-track tape recorder, three sequencers, a beautiful LCD display, 16 hours of battery life, and a host of other features, the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Portable Synth lets you take the studio to go.
Note: There are only 50 units available for this drop. At check out, you have the option to add-on the Crank, Bender, Antenna, or the OP-1 Soft Case.
Whether you’re a beginner or an old hand, the OP-1 gives you an unprecedented level of control in such a small device. You can start by playing with the eight synthesizer engines, including a sampler engine that lets you source sounds from the built-in microphone, line input, or built-in FM radio. From there, start throwing some more effects onto the tone, allowing you to add everything from reverb and delay to a “hacked telephone system” that throws your sound down a rusty garbage disposal. Wherever you end up going with your music, you’ll have more tones, and more way to adjust those tones, than ever before.
For even more versatility, the OP-1 features a drum mode, a looper, an accelerometer, and three sequencers that jazz up any track. Once you’re ready for more permanent experimentation, turn to the 4-track tape recorder and instantly lock down your best grooves. In this process, you can also do funky things to the recording that you’d be too nervous to try on real tape, such as instant reversals, faster speeds, and enough tweaks to transcend most physical limits. After you’ve built your banger, simply plug the OP-1 into your computer and transfer your tracks over or add some new samples to the mix from your personal library.
