Losh, since you were good enough to offer to hook us up with the line clips, I made an order from your website. Feel free to ship it all together; my ordernumber from the site is 9931. Thanks again!
Hi. Will you be sending line clips to everyone. I am new to your product. I knew something was missing, but didn't know what you call the compoents of the Teton. I hope you will add me to the list of people needing line clips.
For what it's worth, I bought this on the last drop and everything was fine. No issues at all besides trying to contain myself as I waited for it to arrive ;-)
Also, I broke a rod section while trying to land a 'tree-fish' D'OH! Anyhow, I contacted Tenkara Rod Co and they're customer service was great to deal with.
If you're thinking about this drop... JUST DO IT! You're friends will be jealous as the fast set up allows you to be the first one fishing every time.
Okay so after Massdrop first listed the Sawtooth package I decided to go out and get the Teton instead, as I had wanted a Tenkara rod for awhile and I thought the Teton was more what I as looking for. I have since then moved to Japanese brand Tenkara rods, but for the short time I had the Teton it was a great rod. Incredibly well made, super light, nice action, and easily handled any of the trout and bream I had caught with it. The largest trout was approximately 13", this rod could easily handle much larger browns, rainbows, and even your average small or largemouth bass. It's also great with handling the very common "tree fish" which I had caught more times than I'd like to admit. I used this primarily on a small, fairly tree and brush heavy stream, with normally skinny (shallow) water with minimal issues so long as you are cautious of your surroundings. Ideally these rods are great for the more open streams and rivers giving you a full range of casting motion. In any case I would recommend these rods to anyone looking to venture in to Tenkara.

Edit: Oh yeah and Massdrop, how about getting a fly fishing community going? There's tons of potential there!
I see that there are several discussions about the poor communitaction from MassDrop regarding issues with this item in the past, since I am new to MassDrop, should I be concerned?
SweRangerIt's great for being beginning fly fishing. I was out with a friend yesterday going after brookies and got lucky with a beautiful greenback cutthroat:
In October we had our first drop with Tenkara Rod Co and it was a huge success . . . for most people. There were several members whose packages got lost in the mail (and are probably still sitting in a corner at the small-town post office where they were shipped from). And in a haste to get replacements out, there were a few issues with the small batch of second shipments.
We are incredibly sorry that the shipping of our first drop was not a smooth one. Hiccups happen occasionally, but this one was quite unusual in that the products seemingly just disappeared while at the Post Office. For weeks we couldn't provide status updates and our Customer Service Experience was lackluster in addressing specific-member questions.
To remedy this, we've nearly doubled our Customer Service Reps, all based here in US. Our logistics team is working more closely with Tenkara Rod Co. We have also changed the shipping method on this particular drop, such that the vendor ships to our fulfillment center. This adds an additional step, but we feel it is worth the assurance that the products will be tracked throughout the process and delivered to everyone in a timely manner. We have been able to add this step while keeping the community price the same.
Thanks for making these drops a success.
Love2FishYeah this is the way to go. Sadly I feel like it will impact TRCs involvement with Massdrop if they feel like they're messing up the experience of getting a rod with them.
TRC runs pretty good sales on their own though and man they ship fast. I bought an additional rod (Cascade) and it was like 20% off or something. Great company and amazing support.
You guys should put a Japanese rod up here instead of this mediocre made in china copycat junk. Bummer if this is peoples first exposure to Tenkara... These rods are totally lackluster, break easily, have horribly cheap paint jobs, and are way too stiff to be considered Tenkara rods.
I am in. Thank you to whoever at Massdrop who listened to my request for the more subtle design of the Teton model pole. Selling at $150 (technically $120 likely due to black Friday) on the manufacturers site, and with, from what I've seen, a no questions asked lifetime repair/replacement guarantee (edit - just confirmed here: http://www.tenkararodco.com/pages/customer-service), this is a MASSIVE deal. 33% right off the top.
