I have no idea why they released an eSATA product. Thus, I checked the internet and found that plugable have USB3.1 dock that only cost more $5 and it supports 10TB on 64bit system (2TB on 32bit).
Plugable USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps SATA Upright Hard Drive Dock and SSD Dock (includes both USB-C and USB 3.0 cables, supports 10TB+ drives)

For the price of this you can get half a dozen of direct SATA to USB adapters.

Also, these docks are purely for rescuing data or taking data off of camcorders and such(who sometimes use sata ssds). This is not usable for running your spare drives off of as they are not being cooled and can get very hot, since the drives are run constantly and at full power. Also good for making coldstorage backups of your data.
Most external drives run in excess of 40°C and those have special controllers to downspeed and save power when the drives are not used. Most of these docks do not have such capabilities and thus run past 60°C, warmer than my radiator. They won't melt, but excess heat is not good for a drives longevity.
RunawayI've had a blacx for many years. Heat is not an issue. There's no difference between this and drive in a case, other than the fact that the case is hotter. And given that many cases use Silicon grommets to dampen vibrations, the idea that the tray actsnas anyway sink is also false.
ChabukuSame, I have one of these and came in here hoping that this was USB 3.0. eSATA is fast too, sure, but USB 3.0 is way more common and convenient IMO. Oh well, it's not like they aren't available all over Amazon. :)
The HDD with the window is an old Western Digital Raptor X drive for those wondering. Shame more companies didn't put a window on any of their drives, thats such a cool thing!
This dock is garbage though, save some money and get an aluminum Unitek.
They came with a heatsink for a reason lol. I actually had to search a little bit to figure out the drive name. I'll still run mechanical drives for a while, I'd love a windowed one. It's one of the few parts in a PC that actually move while working on something (other than fans, meh) and I just always like that visible functionality.
T3chHippieI can't speak for the specific models in this drop, but the one I have is not junk. Cheap in price, yes. But I've had it for about 9 years and it still works perfectly. For what little I paid (maybe $20), it just can't be beat.
Shunyata00still says esata in description too.
Just to be clear, the esata you were wanting was from dock -> computer not hdd->dock correct?
(so we can make sure they know what's up)
I bought one of these last time it dropped. I'd advise everyone interested to stay away from this product. My file transfers come to a halt a few GB into the transfer each time. There's no way to resume the transfer and the hard drive just sits there and hangs. I always have to hard reset to make the drive detectable again. Checked online for solutions, and someone mentioned that there was a firmware update. TT already took this product off their site so it was impossible to get the update :(
After being frustrated at what seemed like a good deal on a pair of hard drive docks, I bought an Anker dock and had no issues with it so far. If you're looking to transfer large files each time, then this dock isn't for you.
Had this in the past, hardly worked with one drive in, didn't work with two in. Look for other options out there, besides the fact that this thing is outdated.
DoctorWhopperI had this and it was great. The USB2 is super slow, but it is not a bad way of copying drives, but it is painfully slow for SSD's. The other problem is over-heating if you transfer a lot of data to or from a spinning HDD. I could easily do 300 GB (and get really hot), but larger transfers more or less require a fan on the HDD.
This is a decent tool for making system images, but you should have eSATA. If one needs to use the USB2, then simply use your motherboard SATA connectors.
I hate to ruin this drop, but I bought this exact one off of Amazon for like $20, probably could get it cheaper off of eBay. It's a good dock, but you can get it cheaper.
