I was excited when this dropped, but checked Amazon and found that if you're going to hardwire it, it's cheaper to just buy it there (costs less because it does not include the cigarette power cable).
It'd be great if there was an option to unbundle the cigarette power cable.
Sohan24How is it cheaper on Amazon? They have it with the hardwire kit for $460. Here it totals $345. That is huge savings ($115) Maybe this version doesn't come with fuse taps or trim tools? Even so, I doubt that you can't buy those items separately for cheaper than $115.
lassetjusWhen you add the rear cam ($70) and hardwiring kit ($15) to the drop price ($259.99), it totals $344.99.
For $338.63, you can get all of that minus the cigarette power cable Prime shipped.
I didn't see the $460 kit when I looked initially. That one is "Amazon's Choice" and is at the top of the search list because the listing is Sponsored. It has the Bonus Install Kit:
Voltage Checker
x8 Add-a-fuse + x2 ATO, x2 LP Mini, x2 Micro2, x2 Mini fuses
Prying Tool Set
Cleaning Cloth
Alcohol Cleaning Pad
Surveillance Warning Stickers
For me, I don't think it's worth getting the bonus install kit. I can purchase the add-a-fuses separately and I already have trim tools. But for someone who doesn't have those items, using the bonus install kit ensures you have the proper tools to install the dash cam.
Sohan24Can you provide a link to the $338 deal on Amazon? I cannot find it. All I see is the F800 Pro Cam by itself for $330 and the Rear Cam by itself for $99. That totals nearly $430.
Sohan24Wow thanks. Some of those reviews on there are brutal. Wonder if those are a different batch of cameras as I generally see good reviews everywhere else.
lassetjusThe complaint about the camera being too sensitive to bumps is universal to most reviews. I'm not sure if the app/wifi connectivity kinks have been worked out yet.
Sohan24I bought the cam from Amazon and then in was out of stock then they said it would be available from Sept 21 to October 7 then today said they had to cancel my order due to unavailability even though they were selling the 64 GB version. I should have just bought from massdrop. Asshole amazon. I missed out on the deal and now the cam is the same price everywhere with no deals.
AuraeI ended up ordering it from blackboxmy car with their 20 dollar discount code today. 280-20=260. I got the rear camera from Amazon for 99 with my 5 percent off via prime chase credit card. I did not get the hardware kit as I bought the cellink neo battery with spliced hardware kit a few weeks ago from blackboxmycar for $330. Dont want to constantly drain my car battery so I got the battery parking solution.
lassetjusSorry to hear that man. I skipped on the Massdrop, thinking I could get it later on Amazon.
Dang Amazon.
The dashcamstore.com has a similar discount (5% off when you sign up for newsletter).
eBay has a 10% eBay bucks promo going on till 9/26.
But the blackboxmycar deal seems to be the best. I had a hard time figuring out where to find the discount code - checked the deals and promo pages and couldn't find it. Later, I looked up and found it on the top of the website: its a blaring red banner :P
Sohan24Yeah I'm pulling the trigger with blackboxmycar. I would still rather save more money, but I have an hour commute in the morning and another hour in the evening. I've personally witnessed with my own eyes I think 14 wrong way drivers now in Florida (with several caught on an older dashcam). I can't wait for another deal sadly.
@lassetjus sadly that won't work for me. Amazon taxes my statem so the 5% I get back on my prime credit card is eaten by taxes -_-
AuraeMy state has almost 7 percent tax with Amazon but I purchased the rear camera from there because there are 3rd party sellers selling it for the same price without tax. In fact the vendor I bought the camera from through Amazon was Blackboxmycar. So I got the 5 percent off for prime credit card. Make sure you check the other sellers. I got the front camera direct from blackboxmycar because they had the 20 dollar off promo. In the end the deal wasn't far off the Amazon price that got cancelled because that was 339 plus sales tax was over 360. I ended up getting both cameras tax free for 355.
