Got mine for $139 😁
Top stitch around the toe box kills it.
Not a deal. The exact same boots can be ordered straight from the manufacturer (via nearby retailers like Milworks) for $195-200, free shipping. And they allow exchanges if you get the wrong size, which Massdrop doesn't.
How do these compare with Oak Street Bootmakers brand? Thank you.
Do these have a leather insole, or poly insole?
Bought these shoes a bit ago and love em. Cat ate my laces tho, any idea what brand they are?
i just want to know what pants are those...
@TomasV @blouie -- SIZING QUESTION: Red Wing Iron Horse 8111 sized 9 & E2 fit me nicely. Wolverine Classic 1000 Mile sized 10 & D are too long and too tight under the laces. I have high arches and typically need the extra width (or a longer shoe for the width, but not ideal!). Brannock device puts me between 9.5 & 10 and approximately E wide. WHAT SIZE is best in the Thorogood boots???
Anent
Good question. The information you gave would put you around the US 9.5 here in the Mondovis. But here's the thing, your width is E, these are a standard D. I'm hoping that the bit of a extra room that you'll get from the 9.5 being somewhere your size 9 Iron Horses and your Wolverines in size 10 will work for you. I'm personally between 9.5 and 10 in the Brannock with a width that's been D and E, and the 9.5's here fit me perfectly with room to spare to wear with thick socks. Hope this helps and other people can chime in! Thanks for your interest on this drop~
If these aren't proof that Thorogood makes the Woolrich Yankee, I don't know what is.
KawiZed
I don't believe it's a secret ;)

I just received my Woolrich Yankees today. $89 CAD! Amazon 'used' i.e. returned item that was still brand new. Nice leather, true to size.
Regarding sizing, is following this chart correct http://www.theunionbootpro.com/perfectfit.cfm ? When people recommend sizing half a size down for these boots, are they recommending to size down from your measured size or from what you weared before (sneakers etc)? It would be a real pain ordering the wrong size.
Does anyone know how much these boots weigh? The comparable Wolverines are only 3 lbs so I am curious because boots look great and are much more affordable.

Although I am partial to Thorogood Boots (see my other discussion points below)t, he Original Thousand Mile Boot (with the leather sole) is a beautiful top shelf pair off footwear. However, I have read in some reviews about quality control issues (loose and untidy stitches) on some. So, the Wolverines are worth the extra money, because they are better than the Mondavis. But, you should have a return policy if you purchase them. IMHO. You will not be disappointed in either! I think the 1000 miles are dressier as well. See The Boot Guy Site for a review on them.

I have 1000 Miles and These Thorogoods. The Mondovi Is lighter the Beloit is heavier.
I really like how looks this boots. I'm a size 7D in Allen Edmonds 511 last (Long Branch, Dalton, etc). If i buy this boots in 7D (does not offer in smaller number)) will be uncomfortably roomy? Thanks in advance Sorry my bad english, i'm not a native speaker
I wear 7.5 dress shoes and 8.5 for sneakers so I go for size 8?
ludachris
I would take an average of what you usually size for your regular shoes. Then go 1/2 size smaller. If you want to be sure, then go to a shoe store that sells work boots and have them measure you using that step sizer. What ever you are told, go 1/2 size down from your measurement to be safe.
ludachris
No. I would add the two sizes together and go with a size 16. Your welcome.
I’m usually a size 10.5-11 in running shoes. What size do you recommend for me?
JayS82
Hard to say really -- but since these run a bit on the large side of things i'd suggest a 10.5 for you. Again, it depends on how you like to wear your boots and what running shoes you're referencing here. But on average the info you give leads me to believe a 10.5 would be just fine. :)
JayS82
I'm a 10.5 in Adidas sneakers, and size 10 in Thorogoods fits me well. If I were you, I'd gauge which size you're closer to (10.5 or 11) and size down 1/2 accordingly.
I have a pair of the heritage work boots, once they break in they're quite comfortable. I've had them for just over 3 years. I wear them in Chicago during the winters, so you know, the whole slush, salt, grime situation. I treat them with Sno-Seal and they seem to be holding up very well, honestly there isn't much visible difference between now and when I first got them. My guess is they'll last for quite a while.
Are these union made? My understanding is that Thorogood boots are made by UFCW members. Is that true for this pair, or is it like Red Wing where a smaller and smaller selection of their boots are built by union labor. I don't see it noted in this description anywhere.

Yes, their U.S. made boots are all union made right there in Merrill WI! I have 4 pairs of Thorogoods, 2 pairs of roofers (discontinued), Omni steel toe black, and my favorite, the 1892 Portage in black. To learn more about Thorogood (and other brands), subscribe to The Boot Guy website. Here is a link to his video about Thorogood visit in Madison Wisconsin, meeting with parent company's Richard Marten of Weinbrenner! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdFUN9GkmBo&t=84s. You cannot find a pair of boots with Horween Chromexcel leather as affordable as you will on Massdrop!

Yes, the 1892 collection is proudly made in Wisconsin by UFCW union labor.
I'm going to work on every shoe and boot related drop until bigger sizes are available. Hell, I offered to help raise funds for production.

My apologies for the delay. In better times I would be self serving and say US15 (whatever width). I dont have the ducats to cough up lately.
How would this leather feel vs the Normal Thorogood boot leather?

The funny thing is Horween is not in the outskirts, it's located right in the middle of the north side. It's basically across from a Best Buy and is within walking distance of any number of yuppie stores, bars, and restaurants. It's a very unexpected location for a tannery.

Horween Chromexcel leather is a smooth, oiled top of the line product. It is stuffed with different oils and waxes, and has a nice easy/smooth medium shiny sheen. It is made with both Cowhide OR, horsehide. I will assume this is cowhide, as Thorogood would say otherwise. You will have to break them in (which is getting the sole to bend with your upper). This will take a while. As Richard Martens of Weinbrenner (the parent company) says, "you earn the right to wear the 1892 collection." My recommendation to keep them in top shape is Sahphir boot cream, as it has neatsfoot oil as one of the ingredients, which is also one of the ingredients that this leather is stuffed with. This also allows you to keep a shine on them. See attachment of my Thorogood 1892 Portage with Holiday Blue shoe laces. I just buffed the pair with Saphir. Go for it! Oh, the regular oil tanned leather thorogood boots are softer, especially the tobacco colored oil tanned leather on their 814-4200 model, their most popular model. For those, I use Montana Pine Pitch blend to keep the oils in.

Well I was fortunate enough that the sight unseen boots did fit accurately. unfortunately the tongue on the left boot is a little bit short and the tongue on the right boot is dramatically shorter than the one on the left. so , with the fully laced boot my knot is basically over my leg and not over tongue

ordered my normal size, but now see on line these run big. just my like, no refund if wrong size
these look like a copy of redwing boots...
Uzuzu
Except wienbrenner shoe company has been around over a decade longer than redwing... also this is just a pretty common silloutte.
When does MassDrop start hiding the shipping cost? It is annoying.
Just another entry in the "I wanna be the Wolverine 1000-Mile boots" category...
I've never bought shoes on MD before. If they don't fit, can I return them? Don't think I'd risk this much money, but I'd be interested if there were a return policy.

Usually dress shoes and leather boots are safe. The sizes are accurate. It is the sports shoes of "runners" that have idiotic sizes. I wear size 11 for work shoes, boots,..., but my smallest sports shoes are 12.5. I have been forced to buy 13 because their sizing is so bad.
Also, the goodyear soles are the best. You can keep re-soling them forever. I have one pair of dress shoes from 2001 that have been re-soled twice. They look brand new.
a_very_important_person
Yeah you can't return but you can measure pretty accurately what size you'll be Before purchase.
dang, got too many black boots. would love to see some browns!
Are there any width options available?
Janv
Not on this style. They're all the same width (standard D)
Salutations. Anyone familiar with the sizing on those boots? The look somewhat reminiscent of Indy boots.

Had the Heritage Moc Toes a year and 4 months...Wear them often, but not daily. They feel like a sneaker (Thorogood will replace the soles). I've yet to put mink oil on them and they've held up great. I don't baby them, but I don't abuse them either. Here is a pic of them new, I don't have any current pics.
