Got this for a coworker. Righteous. Whangs a toothpick clear across the room, once you figure out how to keep your fingers out of the way of the string and the spring centered so it launches cleanly. But not so terribly hard you’re REALLY concerned about destroying stuff! Just right. Wish I’d gotten a second one for myself.
edit: at people complaining about it misfiring double-ended toothpicks, that’s what the loose spring sliding around on the string seemed to be for. It makes the string bigger, sort of? So that it catches on even double-ended toothpick butts, instead of missing them or jamming. Make sure the spring is centered on the string behind your toothpick before you discharge it.
At people complaining it’s too intense for shooting other people, get ‘em from further away. This is definitely a down-the-hallway toy if you’re pointing it at someone you don’t intend to kill.
(I got the Phoenix, can’t speak for the other styles.)
POS I've 3 other styles and they were all great but the Ghost Hunter is a POS. Mine came with no laser and the trigger mechanism doesn't work. Waiting to see what Massdrop does about this
Gunner55I bought 4 of the ghost hunters but only 2 arrived...I think the package was opened mid transit. However....the trigger mech doesn't work because the little clip that holds the bow cable has been installed backwards. I took one of mine apart tonight (pain in the A) and spun it around and works well now. I noticed the other one is the same but i havent fixed it yet.....these really are a piece of crap though
pretty sweet novelty toy. although it was a hassle at first trying to find toothpicks that were only 1 sided. does say it will shoot BB's, however you need to find some REALLY small ones, so that part is not worth. but if you find a "thin-stick" q-tip and get some lighter fluid, it makes for a really cool "flaming arrow". overall it has worked for my purpose that i bought it. not sure if my cat or employees feel the same about it.......
It’s supposed to also shoot bbs, it does not!
they just get stuck in the “barrel”
they seem to be a tiny bit too big.
not a deal breaker but annoying nonetheless
I got the phoenix, it's a well built little crossbow and does maybe 20% of what's advertised. It will not shoot q tips but will shoot toothpicks and only toothpicks. The hole isn't even big enough to get a bb through (standard bb's are 4.5mm) I shouldn't have to buy special 4mm ball bearings just to use this thing to shoot.
