Bad layout (compared to Pok3r), not programmable. I always wonder why this keyboard is so popular around here.

SoundtoxinI disagree. The location of the Fn key cannot be changed on the default layer of a Pok3r. That, to me, is a deal breaker given that it's not in my preferred location. I also think the V60 has the best Fn layer layout on the market if programmability isn't a requirement.

eksuenThe Pok3r's level of progammability is not ideal, but its default layout is pretty much the best there is. The FN arrows are in a much better spot. Holding FN with your pinky feels better than holding it with your thumb. It's also nice to now have duplicate fn layer arrows on WASD for cases where you want to use arrow keys and wasd at the same time. (e.g. The Binding of Isaac, Hammerwatch)

SoundtoxinThe layout is suitable for your needs, but that doesn't mean it's ideal for everyone else too. I happen to dislike the location of the Fn key and I prefer to use my right thumb. I also like having duplicate arrow keys as it allows me to access arrow keys one-handed with either hand (using CapsLock as Fn as well).
There is nothing wrong with preferring the Pok3r to the V60, but that preference doesn't mean the V60 is inherently bad. This keyboard is popular because it's affordable and lots of people (apparently) like the layout. I've read through your posts and you have a history of trashing the V60, seemingly because you prefer the Pok3r. Just chalk it up to a difference in taste and leave it at that. You can continue to wonder why people like things that you do not without having to rain on their parade.

eksuenThe layout seems like one of the more important aspects to me. I've also felt that the V60 in my house is more on the low quality side of things. Don't take it as me thinking the Pok3r is the best thing ever, though, it's just something I have real experience with, so it's good for comparisons. Ideally I'll eventually get something fully programmable, like an Infinity 60%.
>Just chalk it up to a difference in taste... While taste is a thing, often times people have just had different experiences that result in different "opinions". For example, many people that are just getting into the mechanical keyboard community will flock toward browns, but experienced typists tend to dislike browns. Many would dismiss this as a difference in taste when it's just a trap many new people fall into. This same situation happens in many other communities as well, like with GNU/Linux distros, knives, tools. If I've had a few years of experience with something and I come off sounding aggressive, perhaps it's because I don't want people to have to make the same mistakes as me if it's not necessary.

SoundtoxinI'm all for sharing knowledge to help out newcomers, but your initial comment is not what I'd consider particularly helpful. You simply state the layout is bad without a detailed comparison and you do not consider the application.
Your entire point is predicated on the assumption that new people will share your preferences. I know people who like and prefer Browns. Browns are a decent entry point because they are accessible, whether MX or Gateron, and not extreme in terms of spring weight and tactility. We should be encouraging newcomers to try various mech configurations (switches, layout, keycaps, etc.) as much as they can whilst offering our recommendations if they know they have specific criteria they want met. Let them decide what they like and don't like. The real trap is the hype that pervades any enthusiast community and convinces newcomers that what is popular is necessarily best for them.

Soundtoxinit's only popular because it's one of the only 60% models with matias switches rather than mx shit

gayretarrThat's definitely the best reasoning I've heard, but I don't always hear people saying they're getting the Matias switch version.
