Hi, I had that from a long time and actually I bought another one, works great, it's sturdy and the BOT concept is great because you can use this as sealed storage for food or small things, I think it's works better with the 700ml companion, one little thing you need to know about Titanium is that is not good for heat transfer, so you will had some hot spots uneven when you use it, but it's OK for most of the cases unless you want to do some rice or pasta cooking, then you need to be aware about this issue.
So overall, it's a good addition and great quality.

The only multipurpose “mug” on the market. Not only can you cook, but with the water tight lid allows for cold soaking and additional water storage, if needed. Love the BOT and never backpack without it.

I used this BOT on the John Muir Trail last year, and along with a Pocket Rocket 2 and a DIY pot cozy it was a good cooking system. In particular, the gas canister and stove nested nicely in the pot. This also doubled as a mug, saving me that piece of equipment. A previous commenter noted that the lid doesn't seal well if any grit gets in the threads. In my experience, the threads were very easy to clean to enable a good seal, and you could definitely cold soak or carry water in this without leaking. I did make the following observations over time:
1. the screw-on lid involves a lot more Ti than a conventional flat, non-threaded pot lid, and therefore the Vargo BOT weighs more than an equivalent sized non-threaded pot (125 g, vs 80 g for a Toaks 650 ml pot). Hence, if you will only ever boil water with your cooking kit, then it may be an unnecessary weight penalty (i.e. you will never screw on the lid for boiling).
2. The real benefit of the screw-on lid is marketed as its versatility for cold soaking, or use as a water bottle (hence, replacing two pieces of equipment with one). As far as a water bottle goes, this is a heavy bottle (for example, a 600 ml Katadyn BeFree is 60g including the filter), plus then you have the inconvenience of not being able to nest your stove/gas canister/lighter inside. Cold soaking - yes this is a benefit, BUT you can also cold soak in a ziplock bag stored inside a traditional pot. And if you nest your traditional pot inside a pot cozy it will keep the lid on even without threads.
So... while I still like the pot and it performed well, it is kind of a solution looking for a problem. I don't know that the screw-on lid provides unique benefits that you couldn't achieve with a lighter, equivalent-size pot. Even if you ditched your water bottle and used the BOT instead, the weight savings is pretty small (80g Toaks + 60g BeFree = 140g, vs . 125g Vargo, for a 15g savings + inconvenience of not being able to store your stove, gas canister and lighter inside the pot, meaning you'll probably have to add the weight of another small bag for those items).
If someone else has some brilliant insights as to how this pot really improved their kit, I'd love to hear them - but as far as I can tell it rates "as good, but not better" than alternative choices.

LangostinoI have two earlier generations of this item, that appear to be identical to the ones shown, other than a lack of handles and graduations. I got them because, in addition to the uses mentioned - depending on how cold the expected conditions will be - I can heat water prior to hitting the sack, snug down the lid(s), then slide a (clean) sock or two - or sweater sleeve - around the cylinder, and place it in the foot of my (and/or my partner's) sleeping bag or quilt. Depending upon the ambient temperature and amount of surrounding insulation, this provides a considerable comfort boost in colder climates, or when an unexpected cold front moves in. A similar, but more critical, application might involve dealing with hypothermia, though I encountered that only once - a few years before I got them - an incident that helped motivate my original purchase. PS: When using this warming technique it is preferable to not leave much air in the container since, as the water cools, the air contracts and forms a slight underpressure which can make lid removal challenging.

Works as advertised. I am not doing cold soaking or using it as a water bottle. My snow peak giga stove and cannister fits nicely inside and makes for light, easy to carry system. The handles on the side make it easy to take off stove. Would love to see the folding handles on the 1-liter bot. I am very pleased with this bot.

Wobbly Disaster Waiting to Happen ಠ_ಠ
Pros
  • Lid with o-ring with okay threads
  • Handles
  • Super light!
Cons
  • Unstable!!
  • Spot welded handles is a weak point.
  • Extremely thin material which undoubtedly contributed to the wobbly issue. Sure titanium is strong but not when it's this thin. For the serious ultralight packer only. I prefer more robustness.

Summary I won't be using it for backcountry camping unfortunately. Pots are already unsteady on little gas stoves when their bottoms are flat and given how light it is on top of that makes it a disaster waiting to happen. This pot's job will be delegated to storing things in my garage. What a waste and what a disappointment. Drop support so far isn't offering any good options either. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I thought the vargo 700 would become my go-to backpacking pot, but it's more hassle than it's worth. I used it to cold soak, or boil and carry extra water in dry dry stretches of trail. Unfortunately the threads frequently misalign and then it leaks. Also found out it pressurizes if you put the lid on freshly boiled water to carry with you. Mostly a nuisance, I'm going to try the Keith titanium multifunctional pot instead.

katkatiyadThe Keith is good but I feel the separate cup and other odds hanging from it don't justify the extra weight. I have ordered one of these and will convert it with a pressure valve, just like I did on the Keith. I found the extra wall, due to the cup insert, seemed to hinder the pressure cook process. The Keith is a good thing but I would just stick to using it as a steamer.

ozedudeozedude Could you send me directions for adding a pressure valve to one of these bots? I had thought about that as being a great option, but I've no idea how to do it. Thanks in advance if you do!

A jack of all trades. It can be used for cold soaking , Used over the burner to boil water for a dehydrated meal , used as a soup bowl or as a cup for a hot/cold drink. The lid can also be used as a one cup measure of liquids. It also can be used as a storage container , my Talenti one pint empty ice cream( Gelato ) container fits in there when upside down. Especially useful when Talenti is a cold soak item and the Bot is going to be used for cooking. Folks in the past have complained about it being hard to screw the top on or off , No problem with mine. It appears that Vargo has polished the threaded area on the top/lid so it is easier to put on or take off.

I've used this primarily for a strong/secure no-cook pot with the occasional use over a modified starlite stove from Zelph. I've also rigged up a little wind-screen/diffuser using a bit of titanium sheet and a silicon wristband. When the windscreen isn't in use it's neatly wrapped abound the BOT.
The BOT itself is a tank (no pun intended) and I don't have to think much about it when it's in my bag "cooking" my food. Opening and closing it is a bit of a hassle, the rougher titanium finish gives it a gritty feel when threading it. This is probably good for me as I'm sure this helps it stay sealed when it's bouncing around down the trail; no spills. It loses a star because it can be a struggle to get the lid on the BOT. The threads could be more prominently shaped to help solve this problem.
The only other "1/3 star" issue is the inner lip of the lid. It traps detritus and is a pain to clean out. This is usually a problem at the end of the trip since I keep a steady stream of food going through the BOT during the trip. This lip could easily be rolled or welded closed to solve this problem.
In the future, I'd love to see them develop a simple, water-tight pressure relief valve. When I do heat mine up it's to jump-start a soak so I'll seal it up hot and then hike for a couple hours... that sucker is seal up tight when I'm ready to open it. I hear this is also an issue for big altitude changes.

Only issue I've had at all is the lip inside the lid. Food gets stuck in it every time, really hard to clean. Apart from that, it's lightweight, functional, and a really nice piece of gear.

Great idea and almost a great, game-changing product except...the threads have trouble lining up and get stuck out of line (but that is not a huge deal for me) My biggest complaint is the lip inside the lid that food gets caught in when cold soaking and sloshing around. It’s a mess when removing the lid and difficult to clean completely in the backcountry:(
