So.... compared to my Italian Sundowners I bought in the late 80's (which are too small for me now... who knew that my feet would keep growing ?) these Vietnam produced boots are in all respects identical and flawless. Exceptionally comfortable right out of the box. Super grippy. Hard wearing. I am sooo glad that MD dropped these. It's nice to have my old favourite hikers back on my feet again. Quality control: let's just say that I wish that my Allen Edmonds were as consistent. These are well built boots. Fit: I did order the wide version and at first I thought they were fitting tight in the width but after numerous wearings I have had absolutely no issues. They fit my feet like a glove and are super comfortable. Enough said. Happy customer.
