Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Use them as stocking stuffers, use them as emergency headphone supply (I bought three pair and have only one left because my coworkers needed a set of buds) use them as prizes... Because holy shit they're worth it. They're $5, so don't expect the comfort of a loving embrace, but the sound is SO POWERFUL... I was shocked, to be completely honest... I was expecting something on par with $10-$15 sets from radioshack (RIP in peace) or equivalent to the older apple buds, but no. No no. These have intense sound that rivals some of the pricier $50-$75 buds/iems that I've used.
Take that with a grain of salt, though; I am not a hi-fi head. I do not own thousands of pairs of headphones, nor do I have thousands of dollars of audio equipment. I appreciate good sound, but I'm a little too broke to really dive in to being a full-fledged addict. Don't get me wrong, I'm prepared; my music library consists of approximately 25 tb of mostly FLAC files, but for the most part I'm running just from my phone or ipod so I'm not using huge files. I'll be getting an amp/dac at some point, but probably not until I can afford a much nicer set of cans.
So... End verdict from a not-so-real audiophile? Buy all of them.
I mean, I shoot RAW and keep every single RAW file. I'm over 30 tb there and I only ever really print 8x10 or smaller, or I don't print at all and just upload it to the web.
Look how far we've come haha... But if I wanted super good quality, would you say to go with OGG? Like I said, I'm really not that much of an audiophile, I just believe in future-proofing... But if I wanted to start, what format would you recommend?
P.S.: Ogg is a lossy format as much as mp3 and aac, so it can't compete with flac or other lossless formats
I love playing FLAC, I used to have a PC with winamp but it died and I got a free macbook pro and haven't bothered with using it as a sound source. Now I just stockpile music, waiting for the day when I can invest in a good desktop DAC/AMP (I'm looking at a Schiit stack for my first, but still waiting on the dollars to fall from the sky). I've considered getting a Fiio, but the past few years I haven't had as much of a reason. I was in a call center role on the phones, so that's 8 hours a day or more that I wouldn't use it. I drive to work, so it would be useless as a commuter device (car stereo just isn't that great). Now though I'm off the phones, I have a desk, I might start that process... We'll see.
Ugh.
I want my Pre back. Too bad they went up against apple and google at the same time... Even their ads (which in hindsight are what caused the abysmal launch; they were just too weird!) were ahead of their time, because now EVERYONE is doing weird-ass, what-the-hell-did-i-just-watch commercials.
I had Palm everything from a Palm II, Treo 270, and Pre Plus. I built a Franken-Pre 2, until I got my Pre 3. My last of 3 units died about 6 months ago so I got a BB Z30, followed by a Priv. I'm anxious to try the new LuneOS that claims it brings the OS very close to beta quality.
You wouldn't happen to be in Ohio near Dayton would you...? Because you sound exactly like my buddy JK who ran the same things...
But I'll give that a shot, I havent pulled it out for awhile to try anything new. Can you run the toolbox on mac or is it PC only? I might have to requisition my wifes old HP laptop since my burner windows laptop has... ah... burned.
Thanks for the discussion!!!
Still, I get the hesitation on doom metal; there isn't too much of the genre I can really get absorbed in, but give that album a shot (twice minimum, just cause.)
What would you recommend to broaden (or sharpen) my metal horizons?
I know Opeth, but I'm going to check out the rest of the list you gave me.
Fucking. Thrilled. Thank you! Viva Italia!
I need more now. I've been scouring the internet for more excellent music like this. Thank you again!!!!!!
Anabiosis - their self titled is pretty solid. Angel Vivaldi (no vocals, just shred prog metal) Universal Language is excellent, short (Vivaldi's 4 seasons, no joke) but great intro. Amon Amarth - With Oden on our Side (Viking metal?) Revocation - Deathless
Now that's just the metal. Do you get in to hip hop at all? Cause if so... bruh. I've got REQs.
Just wanted to say thank you again for helping reintroduce me to the metal genre! Your recommendations spurred a revival of my library.
Urn is definitely fantastic. I agree that Portal of I is hard to touch, but Urn has 100% grown on me. SO good.
Thanks again for your suggestions! Be well, friend!
