MisterChristopherI may be wrong(someone correct me if I am), but I believe Victorionox uses their own steel, which is usually X55CrMo14. It's about on par with what Wusthof uses(honestly a little better), which is actually(in my experience), pretty underwhelming especially at this price point. Albeit I have uses some of the lower end Vicotrionox knives because they are simply defacto in the culinary industry, and honestly found them to be exceptional at the price point even though the steel is some pretty basic stainless with edge retention that isn't anything to write home about. Takes a good edge, holds that edge not so well, but you could probably leave it in a swamp for a decade and not have to worry about rust. So really, if I were anyone else I'd probably just get the cheapo victorionox, for the price they hold up to higher end knives, but don't really contend when you start to get into highend stainless like VG-10 and high carbon steels.
Believe the HRC is around 55, but pretty skeptical on that.

MisterChristopherI'm assuming the vagueness is assuming we know that all Victorionox knives are the same steel, and probably also because they don't advertise that steel on their knives because it doesn't have a fancy looking name.
