Viking cooking equipment is top notch. I have a couple cast iron pans and I bought a used pressure cooker of theirs a long time ago and have never had any issues with them. My brother cooks for a living and has a plethora of viking equipment and swears by the brand.
Is the warranty international or valid for the US only? I'm also rather concerned about having to replace the gasket, not sure if it will be readily available to purchase and ship over or to purchase in my country
Is it 8 quarts (2 gallons) or is it 1.8 gallons?
$220 on Amazon and $179 at Viking's website....hmmmm. Been kinda half-ass shopping for a pressure cooker to round out my kitchen tools for about a year but haven't pulled the trigger. This being Viking, (started looking at used 36"-48"range oven combos of theirs the last couple weeks) so I know the brand is pretty reputable. Plus it comes with a 10 year warranty. Seems like every once in a while Massdrop will pull out a good one and represent the vision of what they want to be. Think I'm gonna pop on this.

I hopped on it the last drop and it's been super nice. Very high quality cooking equipment. I expect it to last many years after the warranty.

Thanks PapaJoe, good to know I made the right call.
$33.50 for shipping to Canada. Making this about $200cnd, which still isn’t bad considering they’re on sale for $250’ish.

You will still have to pay 20 something dollars to Canada post for the tax, DHL will charge you another 10 cad for paying the tax in advance for you. so yeah, it sucks buying stuff in Canada
Consider purchasing an "InstantPot" instead of this. It accomplishes a lot more, is EXTREMELY well made and is significantly less expensive. Its a pressure cooker, slow cooker, saute, rice cooker, it even makes yogurt and cheese cake. READ reviews on Amazon. Its an amazing appliance. Highly recommend!!!

I know that Breville makes one with altitude compensation, but didn't know Instant Pot does. Good to know. I think I'll still stick with my stove top, but thanks for the update.

Yes, the Ultra models do. I got a good deal with my wife's employee discount $60. Too good to pass. Sold my stove top one after having the Instant Pot for a month. Mostly a fault of the stove, glass top halogen burners never seemed to regulate the temperature well. Plus I never felt safe leaving my stove top one unattended. The Instant Pot for some reason doesn't make me feel anxious leaving the house while it is working.

The valve has three settings, Low, High, and Release. 1' for Low Pressure (1-8 PSI) to Cook Fish, Shellfish, Rice, Lentils, Tender Vegetables (Green Beans, Cauliflower)'2' for High Pressure (8-15 PSI) to Cook Meat, Poultry, Whole Grains such as Farro or Barley, Beans and Firm Vegetables (Carrots, Potatoes, Beets) The lid secures with the twist handle on top which is a very nice feature because it does not have to be lined up with any grooves to function properly.
Currently available on the Viking website for $179.99. Appears to be free shipping there as well.
