Would they be in this drop or a separate one?

How stinky do sweaty feet get in shoes like this without socks? I'm assuming extremely fucking stinky.

I mean, it's hot af? I just love when dirt and grime is just encrusted and just fucking odoriferous as to be almost unbearable in a man or woman's armpit(s).

Here's your sizing problem. Massdrop incorrectly listed the sizes. This screenshot is the Viscata website.

Well.. I hope whoever at Massdrop made that massive error gets a solid reprimand. If they have kids... don't fire them. Make them clean the bathrooms for a month, and NO SMOKE BREAKS. If they have no dependants, fire them! Horrible error that likely cost the company thousands and thousands of dollars.

SavvyBI kind of love when these slip ups happen and the company has good customer service. I got my money back and a pair of good espadrilles to give to my friend. I am in no hurry to wear espadrilles, so I'm not too bothered.
I once bought $150 worth of parts on Amazon that got lost in shipping and they resent the stuff. Four months later, the first package somehow managed to find its way to me. Sweet!
On the other hand, I'll never buy a Gigabyte product ever again in my life for how they've screwed me. Global warranties are only as good as the authorized repair centers that service them - and uh, Gigabyte's don't. The worst part is that I would send in the laptop to be repaired and they would hold on to it for over 30 days. More than once.

I honestly feel a bit scammed about the size. Every time I look down I think, "These would have been great if they fit."
Really bummed out. These are the sorts of drops that make people averse to online shopping and Massdrop shouldn't carry Viscata as long as they have disingenuous sizing.

Okay, seems like you went with the right size judging from your information. And the size EU 44 / US 11 should have worked out.
The one thing I'll say about espadrilles (as it's also noted in the main page for the event, and i think it's been discussed before on this thread) is that they're always built to stretch; being able to get your foot in there and having it bulge the canvas as it pushes through is part of the break-in process that takes a couple of wears to losen up the fabric and start molding the shoe to your foot.
When folks size up too much and expect a comfortable fit from the get-go, they end up with a loose fitting espadrille that comes in and out of their foot as they step -- since there's no lacing system on these styles besides the inner elastic band, the main thing holding your foot onto the shoe is a tighter right fit.

TomasVGreat informative post that is also dead wrong. Turned out Massdrop screwed up the sizing charts and EU 44 / US 11 was in reality EU 44 / US 10.
But the big problem with your post is that people would have listened to your advice, "Don't worry! The canvas will stretch!" and then buy a shoe that was poorly sized by the company or distributor and suffer through it thinking "Maybe it's supposed to be tight and uncomfortable..." This is disingenuous PR designed to limit returns.
I've been that sucker before. The floor seller will say this often in the shoe stores to get rid of the smaller sizes that don't sell as fast. The companies should provide adequate sizing charts and information from the get go.

So how tight should these fit? Mine are very very tight and went with my true size (10) how much will they stretch?

LimballsSame here, went with my usual size (44) but they are too tight and too short. I would say they are almost a full size too small and no amount of stretching will make them wearable. Quoting from the description: "The shoes run slightly small but are built to stretch, therefore Viscata recommends ordering true to size." What a let-down after such a long wait. I will be requesting a return as I feel Massdrop failed to provide adequate guidance on sizing.

OdiodiJust my $.02 for anyone who is still having difficulty with fit: I typically get a 10.5 or 11 size shoe, so I went ahead and ordered the 11s (mauve) from this drop. When they first arrived, they were indeed extremely tight, and it took some work to get them onto my feet. Where my toes sat at the front of the shoe, especially, it was quite snug. Borderline too uncomfortable to wear. But I had been anticipating these for a while, so I wore them around for a day on Saturday (grocery shopping, Pokemon Go, etc) and am now quite happy with them. The material slowly loosened up, without compromising the integrity of the stitching, as far as I can tell. I would say, as long as your feet can sit on the base of the shoe, lengthwise and widthwise, it's worth giving it a shot.

From the description, I'm a little confused about exactly what part of these shoes are leather, and where exactly it is.

I've read that jute doesn't really hold up well so it might be good that these are not jute on the outsole.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular espradrille and how they hold up? I hear the cheaper espradrilles are really only good for one season.

ChurchillWThese days you'll be hard-pressed to find espadrilles with a jute outsole. Most have some sort of either crepe/foam composite/rubber sole to make them more durable (and city appropriate, really).
I've worn cheap and mid-range espadrilles growing up and I can tell you these feel substantial from the get-go --- from the leather lining on the inside to the stitching on the upper these are definitely not your average Toms.

Welcome Viscata to Massdrop, everyone!
Out of Barcelona, Spain, Viscata makes some of the nicest espadrilles we’ve ever come across, with little details that set them apart from the rest, like leather lining and an elastic band for easier fit. They are the quintessential example of this shoe style and we couldn’t be happier to feature them on our site.
Personally, growing up in Argentina, ‘espadrilles’ (or ‘alpargatas’ as they’re called in Spanish) were ubiquitous of warmer months and comfort style. From the countryside to the polo fields, espadrilles are truly classy enough to be dressed up with the right outfit yet still remain casual enough to be an everyday style. The more you wear them the more comfortable they get, much like a good pair of jeans or leather boots — the fabric will open up and start molding to your feet.
For sizing purposes: These tend to run on the small side of things. We recommend going with your true size or size up if you’re between sizes. I wear a 9.5 on the Brannock and I wear a size 10 (43 EU) on these.

Any more info on how these fit? Not sure what size to order. It's saying size 12 US is size 45 EU, but I'm wearing shoes right now that say 11.5 US and 46 EU (Merrell - Vibram). For Converse's I wear size 9 US, PF Flyer size 10 US, Nike size 10.5...

SlowcountryBecause European sizes don't (usually) have half sizes, each size runs always somewhat in between two sizes. Hence Viscata recommending to size up. For Converse I wear 9.5 US and went with a size 10 US on these.

I have to update--I crammed my feet into the espradilles to try to stretch them out, and--well, you know what, they do sorta fit nice and good now. They do stretch out. Now, I wear a 9 1/2 double wide American shoe, and I usually order a size 11 if wides aren't an option. I ordered these shoes in 11, and there's a bit of room lengthways between the front of my toe and the sewn seam of the canvas upper (about 3/4 inch). But my feet are wider than this shoe's width by a bit, and my feet squash outward when I walk on the sides quite a bit.
IanAnderson says below, "The basic premise is that if the length of the shoe fits, then that is their size and the rest will stretch out." I find this to be true so far, but even in terms of length--I sized up from a 9 1/2 to an 11 ordering these shoes, and I wouldn't want to order a single size smaller.

I am a woman and love these! Any idea on how a woman's size transfers to these men's size? I wear an 8 1/2 women's. Thanks

HollySsubtract 1.5 or 2 sizes from your women's shoe size to determine your fit in men's sizing. so, sz 7 men's in this case.

HollySHi HollyS! That's awesome -- thanks for your interest on this drop. A size 8 1/2 womens equals to roughly about a size 7 mens. That being said, these run small and we suggest sizing up half a size, which would make you a size 7 1/2. The smallest size we offer is a size 8. If you are more between sizes (let's say 8 1/2 and 9 in womens) they may fit and be worth it.
