Anything Visconti I avoid in large arc. Their QA leaves a lot to be desired.

May I ask why you say so about them? Just curious.

StiefVisconti prides themselves as art company and quite often quality control is not the best or prime concern. There are frequent cases (https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/8vi77u/my_day_cant_get_any_worse/, https://youtu.be/O1OmXqRL390?t=430) of issues with their pens. They are pretty but in my opinion not worth it since if you pay 600€ for a pen, it better be perfect out of the box. Sure, other products might be better or have fewer issues but for me issues they allow to creep in their premium product line is a warning to avoid anything produced by the company.
In linked video, Nibsmith had a limited Opera Blue Typhoon pen, with steel nib, which cost well over 500€ and it wouldn't write. It's a pen with artificially inflated price due to it's exclusivity, and they couldn't be bothered to test that limited amount.

I sincerely thank you for this, I'll keep an eye out for Visconti's products. I think you're spot on regarding that they pride themselves as art company, but not so much in practical design and QA. Beautiful product not necessarily intuitive.

StiefYou are welcome. Please keep in mind that not all products are defective and have these issues, but if you (or anyone else for that matter) decide to purchase something, I would advise it to be from a reputable seller, preferably local, who will deal with potential issues swiftly and in a satisfactory manner.

Thanks for the heads up, and even more importantly, your response. Buying from a reputable, local seller can make all the difference in the world.
But damn that blue pen is pretty.
