Product Description
This Visconti ballpoint pen is inspired by Michelangelo, whose paintings, sculptures, and architectural commissions rank as some of the most famous works of art ever. In a marriage between beauty and function, the 18-faceted design looks stunning and prevents the pen from rolling when set down on a desk or table Read More

RARELY would I use a ballpoint/rollerball pen, but I needed one for my office and this one is lovely. I have a number of superb Viscontis fountains and I only wish the Michelangelo Fountain pen could also come in (with the same gold trim the gold nob) at a similarly great clearance price (sub $200, given the ballpoint was sub $100). But 5 stars :) J

jeff006The ballpoint refill is very smooth - gel-like - and the only complaint i have is that the metal cone at the end of the body is not 100% aligned with the acrylic - so a little "off." But it is a great and handy pen.

Bought 1 when the drop was $75 in April and the most recent one in May.
The box in April came in a long box with plenty of bubble wrap. The Visconti box itself and the actual pen inside of it were perfectly fine. The box from May came without a barcode sticker. The front of the actual Visconti box was bent inwards, but I was able to reshape it so the front would close all the way (you can tell the box suffered some damage in the front, too). Fortunately, the pen itself was fine. Would give 4.5, but 5 it is. I'm hoping my May shipment was an anomaly, but I'd be interested to hear from other verified purchasers (especially those who also bought one during the April drop) if they had similar shipping issues.

Compare to my Parker. it weight a tad lighter and my Parker pen is well balance and it stays put between the fingers. As for the Michelangelo, it is a nice design. The ink flows evenly and its smooth writing. I like the fact that, ink show up when the tip touches the paper. Personally I think the tip section is not heavy enough to counter weight the other end. If loosely held it will try fall out of your fingers.

Very Nice pen. Its lighter than most other pens so it doesn't seem fatiguing if you write a lot. It is strikingly beautiful. The pocket clip is spring loaded to it won't loosen over time. It writes effortlessly and can easily write very small when required. The refills are Parker Quink compatible so you can purchase a wide variety of ink and gel refills that will work with it. A very nice pen. I'm glad I purchased one.

Same as another purchaser below: the retraction mechanism stopped working after using the pen for less than 5 times. Big waste of money.

Retraction mechanism stopped working reliably shortly after purchase. Destroyed a good work shirt. Haven’t used it since. 🙁

Elegant design, fits well in the hand, and has a beautiful sheen. The ballpoint refill is decent.

Awesome pen, and with the classic Visconti quality and beauty. great balance in the hand, and the twist action to extend the writing tip is silky smooth.

Looks much more expensive than it is, but to me it feels like plastic, not lacquered wood.
Also, it is NOT balanced. It is very lightweight but weighted toward the back end - if the tip section weighed a bit more the pen would have much better balance. Instead I find it tilts away from the paper. I would find this tiring in a long writing session. YMMV.
The Visconti refill it came with was very splotchy - too bad, because the blue ink color is gorgeous. I've replaced it with another Parker-style refill which writes better but doesn't have the Visconti magic.
As it is, I still think it's a nice pen and, at this price point, I have no hesitation letting my clients use it to sign documents.
