m28mAlso notice the keycaps on Amazon are OEM profile, not DSA, and that they are laser-engraved, whereas the ones here are dye-subbed. Also, the colored keys you get here.
Why an upcharge on the dull as dishwater "industry standard" MX Browns? For a $110 KB, this seems like picayune nickel and diming.
Also, would be nice to see other key options on this and other KB drops besides only Cherrys. No longer cutting edge and overpriced. One can pay less and get more with other brands.
m28mSources for Box switches have received the re-tooled ones by now. I have ordered several packs. Not an issue for this current drop, of course, since these are Cherry's. Check the usual sources for notices on their websites which say specifically they are the re-tooled ones.
This is a good board, but it's $10+ cheaper at mechanical keyboards dot com (admittedly, that version has black keys that may not be quite as nice, but that's a matter of preference and many people end up replacing their keycaps anyway). I suggest using the onboard programming to make the right "Alt" key into a dedicated Delete key. Here is mine with SA Green Screen keycaps (from Massdrop).
If you use the online editor, you will lose onboard on-the-fly programming as it requires separate versions of the firmware to work. Keep that in mind. You could always reflash the original firmware, though.
Pham0100Good to know.. I was very interested in the Cypher (maybe a future updated model will come out before I put my money into another board) but the software/program-ability doesn't seem very versatile.
The silent black version is one of my most used keyboards, and this DSA keycap iteration looks cool. The only thing I really, really dislike is the useless Pn key. Another mod key on the right side would be so much better.
Interstate74Yep, it's wack. Programmability is now a must have for me... I can't justify investing in another keyboard if the keys don't do exactly what I want them to. This is still an amazing value, but for 65% I'd probably recommend a Tofu65, maybe with an LFK65 pcb...
I would have bought this if I didn't already own the Vortex Race 3. Minus the top function key row is a big plus.
However, I'm not a big fan of the border on this.
Both the Race 3 and Core (I own both) do not have borders, so it takes up less space on my desk.
I see that other places are going for $105, but only in black keycap (not a fan of black).
Pay $5 extra for the white/grey + color keycaps. Sounds fair.
Anyone keep up with keyboard news? I want this layout, but with RGB. I'm wondering if vortex will release and rgb version since the pcb has spots for LEDs.
Oh ok.. thanks for the advise.. I guess I assumed they might not want to say if they're releasing something like RGB cause it might reduce sales on the current cypher. I was looking at the vortex core and its pcb also has cut-outs for LEDs, but they haven't released an rgb version so I'm doubting they'll make one for the cypher, sadly. I hope I'm wrong.

m28mI mean, it never hurts to try and ask, worst they can say is they can't divulge that information!
