Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Pros: - Nice layout - Very well built - You can add leds - SA Keycaps - Programmable layouts
Cons: - Flat keycap profile - Even with the included feet, keyboard has very little tilt to it - No Numlock indicator LED (at least mine didn't have one?)
Personally overall I did not like it. If the keycaps had been sculpted or the feet had a little more lift to them maybe? And the lack of a Numlock indicator left me 'experimenting' too much to see if it was on or not. It was uncomfortable to type on for lengths of time for me. (That is just my experience though - these things might not matter as much to others).
edit: updated the firmware, numlock LED now works.
