I hate to point this out, but the one thing your VStarcam C38S 1080P camera lacks is 1080P.

Yeah, there are 3 different streams in app to choosing, the high level means the 1920*1080, you have got it!

treal512I got one and used for a while. it's quite easy to set up , just need to follow the instruction on manual. I am very satisfied with the main functions I am looking for, mobile device remote access and control camera, 1080p@25fps video is much better than other cameras' 15fps choppy image, night vision is enough for a room, tilt/panning through swiping on the phone. It worked as good as other more expensive cameras did.

I´m planing to make my own software for this camera, make it to turn on when none of my family members around. Record some sentences so it will greed me and scare away intruders :) Make it follow unrecognized person for extra effect :)

True_VladimirThere is a feature about motion detecion on camera . You can turn on the motion detection on eye4 app . then when something objective is moving , the app will get the alarm message . then you can view it what happens.

Do cameras like these still get pwned immediately after you install them? Or do they have better security nowadays?

TigermanThey did some job on security, such as closed external network IP and port login, camera communication encryption, forbid ed key ini file download and a lot staff I don't understand. However, I wouldn't believe anything is 100% secure nowadays.

DarkvikingThanks. I've always liked the idea of this sort of camera, but the potential risks of having strangers take over your cameras is pretty scary, so I haven't got around to doing the research needed to make sure they're secure.

leyanivActually they do. The best interface provided via Internet explorer. The camera is awesome. it allows you to set schedule and let it send email upon alarm triggering. It is also possible to record sound files and let them play when the camera sees movement and is in alarm mode.
Only one problem that i have is the lack of cloud.
As of now you can either record everything on microsd card and then see it via application.
I´ve set up the Windows IOT on rasbery pie 3 that would copy the Sdcard and transfer it to onedrive cloud.
This way i´ll have the recording s even if the microsd gets destroyed.

very nice. so far everything works well. I had an issue when paring the device to app. Well, its not an issue, i simply didnt read the instructions well enough. This camera works with 2.4 ghz wifi not 5.0 So i coudnt see the camera on my phone till i changed the wifi freq :) I would love to hook remote button to start and stop recording without use of the app

True_VladimirSorry that we can't make the camera to be 5GHz wifi supportive for the moment, sorry for the inconvenience caused. In fact, 2.4GHz wifi is more stable and can cover wider range.Do you have a dual band router? If so, please enable both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi, name them differently, and connect the camera to the 2.4GHz wifi. Thanks!

Can this be used outdoors and is it powered by battery or a cord? Also can you install this upside down

ancesscaYes, it can be used outdoors. It powers by a cord. if you place it outdoors ,pls make sure the cord is long enough. You can install it upside down. then you can flip the picture in phone APP, on the APP, please go to parameter settings--video viewing and turn on the 'vertical mirror.
