How is a 6 lbs tent even considered a lightweight backpacking tent?

JwalcheIt's not considered very lightweight, and this is why it's on "Outdoors" and not "Ultralight" category. That said, a weight of 2.4kg (i.e. the UL version) for a 3 people real 4-season (hopefully) tent is pretty good IMO.

JwalcheYep, a little over 5lbs for a 3-person mountaineering tent with a vestibule is outstanding. At less than 2 lbs per person, that's UL even for not-mountaineering. Even if one considers it a roomy 2-person tent, that's about 2.7lbs per person, which is still fantastic.

DannyMilksA cheap Chinese 3 person backpacking tent I have is 4 lbs. That's lightweight. A 3 person Cuben tent that weighs 1.5 lbs is UL.

ArielBiMBaTrue. But the maker's name and their “Though, in theory, there is no material that weighs nothing, we dream of developing weightless equipment.” seemed sillly

JwalcheThis tents meant for more serious weather. Take a look at how the poles cross each other and how they extend into the vestibule. 3 season backpacking tent and a 4 season tent have different standards for weather protection, hence UL in terms for a more weather ready tent.
