Typhoon859No knife is dishwasher safe because the abrasives in dishwashing detergent dull the edge.

PmeyerAs long as the knives are well isolated in a decent quality dishwasher, ceramic knives are fine. I honestly don't want a knife that can be dulled by soap and water. (I understand that the "soap" in this case is a bit more abrasive than normal. Regardless...)
