There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...

The way I see it adding a sub-category lets them start to fit in more specialized equipment into the baking section, that would simply be a waste of airwaves in the cooking section and thus risk not being dropped to begin with.
So far, they admittedly haven't done a great job of that, there's far too much overlap between the two categories. Many drops have literally been double dropped which is lending itself to people questioning why you need two sections when they drop everything in both.
I say round up all those malcontented dissidents and cart them off to their own website where the can be amongst their own kind!
That way the rest of us won't be inconvenienced by incessant drops that have nothing what so ever to do with our interests! As a matter of fact, I say we should build a big wall to keep them the hell out of our website!
Build that wall, build that wall!!!
It gets me so hot under the collar when I'm perusing blades and run into fixed blades amongst my folders, or even worse chef's knives.
The real question is how far can they segment stuff before the categories become small enough to become useless? Cooking and baking should be fine as they are still very general categories, but b&w vs color photography, or fixed blades vs folding is likely getting too far into the weeds, sadly. As such I'll have to continue to deal with the plebeians who actually purchase knives as tools instead of pocket decorations and edged 180 degree spin capable fidget spinners.
At the end of the day though, we come to MD to pursue our interests, which pretty specifically means not dealing with drops that aren't in our field of interest.
But a man can dare to dream, for the American dream lives once again, beneath the watchful eye of the all-father Drumpf.
