The stove in the above picture is the Licamp Kinetic Ultra Titanium. Not sure if it's one of the lightest, but I recommend it.

five12nineIt is the Olicamp Kinetic Ultra otherwise known as the FMS-116T or the Monotauk Gnat, and it's the third lightest on my list.

hikin_jimMine was badged as the Monatauk Gnat when I bought it in 2011. Light, boils fast, simmers well. Perfect.

Looks just like an OptimusCrux Lite

Stu31It's very similar visually. Obviously Fire Maple copied the overall design from the Crux. The Chinese don't have this sense of intellectual property or patents that we do in the west.
However, the FMS-116T is a lot lighter and a bit shorter than the Crux Lite.

hikin_jimThe fms-116t, the olicamp and the gnat are all the same. The crux is a little different.

JbonnettYes, true. And now there's the Monoprice branded one. Other than color and logo, they are all the same except for the Crux which is visually similar but is another stove produced by a different company, Optimus.

I think that's about when I got mine. They've been around for a while. I consider them a proven stove.

hikin_jimI carried mine on a four year section hike of the AT, and another section of the NCT. Never failed me. Replaced the O-ring once as preventative maint. I like to cook, and pack dehydrated veggies, rice, pasta, beans, powdered cheese, hot sauce, spices ... I love that I can reduce this baby to a simmer.
I've slowly replaced most of the contents of my pack looking to reduce weight, and occasionally look at newer stoves, but have never felt the urge to replace what has worked so well for me.

That's a pretty good endorsement of a stove.
