Many quilt patterns ask for scant 1/4” seams. I have found if you ave a Bernina and use the #3 foot (manual button hole foot) and move your needle to the extreme right #5 position, it makes an exact scant 1/4”. I did an entire quilt using this and never had to trim a single block 😊. JB

JLpbThere are different kinds of paper piecing. Foundation is one using paper to get precise points and English paper piecing (epp) to make small designs that are then sewn together. Start with a small design/pattern to see how you feel about each and use to make a pin cushion or another small item. Lots of information and instructions on the internet.

JLpbBernina also has a 1/4" foot, which came standard with my 440QE, and comes with other models as well or can be purchased separately.
