Depends on what I'm doing. 99% of the time I use slings (usually my Peak Design Sling 5L, or if I need to bring a little more gear I bring the Thinktank Retrospective 5). If I'm traveling by plane I bring my Wandrd PRVKE 21.
Someone has a thing for Pelican cases I guess?
The peak design everyday backpack 20L is cool but I think it needs a little bit more space in the laptop compartiment.
Still really cool backpack tho...
Depends. If I'm going to be at a customer site, messenger style bags are my go to. For travel and most other activities, a backpack is my preferred form factor.
Satchel? I haven't heard that word used since a sister scolded me for leaving my satchel sticking too far out in the aisle. In Catholic grade school. I think that most of us would refer to this style of bag, with a single strap that crosses the body from over the shoulder, as a messenger bag. Satchel is more akin to a bowling bag or small duffel.
Camera bag for what, exactly? We all have at least a few bags*. I transfer gear depending on where I'm going and what I'm planning to do. At one of the spectrum might be 'Wedding', and the other end 'back country camping'. The first needs a shoulder bag that can carry a couple of bodies and fast lenses (from wide to short tele). The second, of course, is a backpack for gear plus a single body, couple of variable aperture zooms, and a way to strap on a tripod. My favorite backpack in the Clik Elite Contrejour. I would have added that as an option, but Clik has gone out of business. I do long exposures, so a lightweight travel tripod, which might fit inside a pack, really isn't an option.
*My office looks like a backpacker's 'gear room'. I count seven camera bags plus to tripod bags, plus multiple inserts so I can put gear into a carry-on

agree. I have a Pelican backpack I use for hauling a single body, couple of lenses, laptop and every single damn thing for a tethered shoot. It weighs a ton. If I am just walking around doing some street photography I prefer my evenodd bicylce tube messenger. It can fit a body and a spare lens. Along with a water bottle. Not much else. I have plain jane Manhattan Portage messenger which strikes the balance between the two. It can fit a bit more than my camera. Though I reserve the spare capacity for picking up things as I venture through interesting neighborhoods with cool stores. None of my current 3 bags are actually photog bags. The ones I have checked out either are too touristy looking and/or not practical o robust enough to be worth the 'photography bag' description. One problem I have with a lot of these bags is that they are designed for transporting your gear. Not for easy access to your gear!
