I have an older model Thecus NAS and unless their software to manage the device has changed, I would skip that one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those 1st three options do not have a network port, they are only capable of USB connection. They aren't really Network Attached Storage if that is the case, correct?

Yep. They are DAS, not NAS. DAS is a good way to go with USB3 or eSATA though. Need to have a server powered on to use them though.
