I'm really enjoying the ll bean microlight 2 ul. Plenty of space for 2 (30SQ FT), light -for freestanding 3lbs 1 oz and it has held up to storm's and hords of mosquitoes. My only complaint is the way the doors open. My exped synmat duo pad, ba saddle mtn duo bag and this tent make for a 8lb 5 oz 2p setup that's comfy in 20 degree nights. That and our granite gear packs has dropped over 8 lbs off our (2p) base weights. We did a moderately flat 20 mile hike and decided not to bring our poles. So freestanding was the best way to go. For an 8oz or so weight penalty, I'll take freestanding.

All are not the lightest but sometimes it’s nice to have free standing. I have the big sky revolution, great tent for short hikes wear weight is not an issue. and fantastic as a true 2 person tent that can be set up in the rain with out interior getting wet. Love it to bits and tend to take it on long hikes anyway , at 1.7 kg and stuck in bad weather for a day or so is a pleaspure in such a roomy tent. TarptentNotch would be my ultralight choise or anything cuben fibire if you can afford it.

but getting 2 real people in the fly creek 2 is not fun. My wife is only 5'2" and I'm only 5'10". We tried our friends fly creek 2 UV and it was a condensation, rub up against the walls kinda event. Had to pull off the fly and leave everything in the sun (sleeping bag, pads)… out to dry as everything rubbed up against the sides and got damp.
