I have one and it's ridiculously sharp. There will be portrait shooters that will whinge and moan that their <insert Canon/Nikon/Zeiss lens here> has beautiful bokeh/colour/whatever. They have not used this lens.
DPReview: " The Sigma 85mm F1.4 Art hasn't been on the market long, but it has already begun to make some serious waves. Lenstip and DxO have rated it the sharpest 85mm lens ever created, beating out even the legendary 85mm F1.4 Zeiss Otus, which isn't something that we take lightly. We were lucky enough to get our hands on the lens back in mid-November and we were very impressed to say the least, so much so that it took top honors for the 'Best Prime Lens of 2016' as chosen by our staff. "
Best part? Only $1200 (not on sale). The lead in was "Best portrait lens for the money." You're welcome. ;-)
Tamron 90mm is easily a contender among this poll grouping. Should be an option.
I dont' know why the Fuji XF 56mm f/1.2 (Non-APD) was not included here yet, added just now.
Seriously, a 2000 USD lens is voted as the best lens ...for the money??
I'm assuming you're shooting full frame based on the lenses in this poll. If you're shooting APS-C, a 50mm lens works very well for portraits.
I think that the Rokinon 85/1.4 Is a great option for the money. I have seen some good reviews of this lens(It´s just 300 bucks).
The Samyang/Rokinon 135/2 Is great option too(It´s $500)
I've had the privilege of renting 2 of these, and trying out on different subjects, but before committing to purchasing a portrait lens I'm hoping to get some feedback from the community in favorites (or nightmares). Any info would be really appreciated.
