I recently purchased a Fidelio X2 and use it conjunction with a V-Moda Boom Pro mic, connected to my PC and PS4 via a hand-me-down Astro MixAmp Pro. This replaced my Astro A40 headset. If you can stretch to the X2 / Boom Pro, it's certainly worth considering.
I also looked at AKG K612 paired with a Antlion Mod Mic (the K612 doesn't have a detachable cable, so won't accommodate the Boom Pro). The AKG has an incredibly spacious soundstage, ideal for games in which positional cues are crucial, but I found the X2 to have the more engaging sound overall. I would have considered the 7XX fitted with a Mod Mic, had a found Massdrop sooner!
