Hmmm.... I came across an article last week about keeping automatic watches wound if they were not being worn in a frequent rotation w/other watches. Worn daily, they wouldn't need a Watch Winder- and worn infrequently, the article stated that there was NO benefit in keeping them wound.
The author's analogy was similar to owning a collection of cars; and perhaps driving the majority depending on the day of the week-month- or season. He stated all that was really necessary was to keep the car batteries topped up with 'trickle/float' chargers to keep the battery plates from sulfating and dying.
He went on to say "You wouldn't keep all the cars in your collection idling for days..." "This would only create excessive wear on reciprocating parts/moving surfaces like toothed wheels driving one another."
I guess these would be fine if you were so compulsive that you felt the need to change watches several times a day/week to match your mood.
